About the Role
Menlo is looking for an energetic generalist Designer to join us during our rapid growth stage. You will help shape product experiences across the Menlo ecosystem in a highly technical environment. At Menlo, Product Engineers build the first MVP, then Design takes a working product and smooths it out. You will be strongest in Product Design, while also being able to cover user research, UX writing, and early brand definition when needed.
Key Responsibilities

  • Take engineer-built MVPs and refine them into simple, high quality user experiences, improving usability, flow, and clarity.
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to communicate interaction models and decision points.
  • Design user friendly interfaces for AI products, with a bias toward essentialism, consistency, and strong taste.
  • Conduct user research to discover user needs, behaviors, and pain points, including interviews and lightweight product analytics.
  • Write and refine UX copy to improve comprehension, reduce friction, and strengthen product communication.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Engineers to scope problems, iterate quickly, and ship improvements into production.
  • Contribute to product design foundations, including interaction patterns and design system direction aligned to real product usage.
  • Support early brand definition and key assets where it directly supports product and company identity.

You Should Have

  • Strong Product Design instincts, you bias toward simplicity, structure ambiguity well, and optimise for business impact.
  • Opinionated about user experience, essentialism, and taste.
  • A strong portfolio showing UI and UX work, including how you think and iterate, not just final screens.
  • Comfort working with highly technical teams and shipping into a fast-moving product process.
  • Enjoyment of talking to users and learning directly from them.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interest in AI and or robotics

Nice to Have

  • UI polish and visual design depth, including micro interactions and design system craft.
  • Brand design experience for 0 to 1 companies.
  • Ability to use basic analytics to support research insights.
