Principal Telecommunication Designer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of designers and provide coaching, planning, and monitoring schedule of design activities

  • Supervise all aspects of Telecoms design and also able to perform both 2D and 3D design work independently (hands-on)

  • Be fully responsible and accountable of all design activities

  • Competent in performing 3D modelling of equipment, supports, trays and 3D cable routing using E3D / S3D software, including set-up and clash resolution

  • Competent in extracting drawings/documents from 3D model such as equipment layouts, antenna general arrangement, MTO, and cable schedule

  • Proficient in performing 3D cable routing

  • Conduct 3D model reviews for Telecoms and its interfaces

  • Conduct CCTV coverage reviews using 3D model to optimize CCTV locations with the client

  • Develop 2D drawings including schematic diagrams, block diagrams, interconnection diagrams, cable routing layouts, and installation details

  • Develop lists including cable schedule and equipment list

  • Produce MTO for Telecoms materials such as cables, cables glands, and equipment supports

  • Provide solution and resolve comments related to design

  • Develop weight report for Telecoms

  • Develop greenfield and brownfield design drawings

  • Provide input for PAGA coverage study and incorporate study recommendations

  • Prepare site survey checklist and site survey report for brownfield modifications

  • Provide input and coordinate with other disciplines for cable trays, MCT, trimmers, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 15 years experience in Telecommunications Engineering in the Oil and Gas industry including greenfield and brownfield design

  • Telecommunications background, knowledge, and understanding

  • Able to work independently and lead design activities

  • Team player and interact with other disciplines colleagues, clients, and suppliers

  • Proficient in 3D modeling software including AVEVA E3D, PDMS, and SP3D

  • Proficient in 2D AutoCAD & Microstation

  • Site survey experience preferred
