Our Asia Pacific Investments business has a large, dedicated and highly experienced investment team which has been investing across the region since 1985, and manages all our Asian products, including regional, country, smaller companies, and sustainable investing propositions.
The team has a strong regional footprint with offices in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney. This breadth gives us close proximity to the companies we own and the markets we invest in. Our APAC operations have been based in Singapore since 1992. We invest in Asian companies to grow with them and to help them to become better investors.
Role Description
Reporting to the Head of Client Group APAC – the Business Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of all client activities within the region. The individual will support business management activities across the APAC Client Group with a particular focus on:
Preparing insightful Management Information (MI) for senior management to ensure current business performance is clearly understood
Deliver forward-looking analysis by collaborating with regional sales teams to understand pipeline & outlook
Optimizing Salesforce to deliver repeatable & scalable reporting to key stakeholders
Produce analysis on key clients & products
Resolve or escalate AUM and flow queries to relevant teams to improve accuracy of reporting
Support sales planning exercises
Resolve operational & risk issues, escalate concerns as required
Represent the APAC client group on business improvement projects and various internal forums
Key Responsibilities
Business Management
Develop and monitor regional business plans; co-ordinating and collaborating with stakeholders in conjunction with Management Team. Ensure that they are aligned to the growth targets and profitability of the region
Ensure the APAC Client Group is optimizing the use of Salesforce to enable management to access timely & repeatable insights into APAC clients
Collaborate with global team to understand latest Salesforce enhancements & promote best practice to users in APAC
Responsible for resolving key operational and risk and control issues, escalating concerns to the Management as required
Ensure that policies and procedures are established, maintained and followed within the Division to meet the Client Group’s business and regulatory obligations/controls
Management Information
Preparation of monthly management information and reports, covering performance against budget, sales results & outlook, strategic progress, KPIs and key issues encountered
Co-ordinate escalation of AUM & flow queries to relevant teams to ensure accuracy of reporting on the APAC sales performance
Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis on specific areas of interest (key clients, products etc) with recommendations for action
Leverage external market analysis that is available to provide context to APAC client group performance & support insights / recommendations
Responsible for structuring agendas, presentation materials and tracking the status of action points allocated at management meetings, leadership team meetings and off-sites
Projects
Represent regional business in global project/ committee meetings as required
Deliver strategic projects as determined by the Management Team
Take the lead on transition, ensuring that business as usual is maintained, and changes are effectively integrated into the business
Core Knowledge and Skills
A deep understanding of the asset management industry in APAC (i.e. investment asset classes, markets and products/solutions), distribution channels (Wholesale/Institutional) and client needs.
Knowledge of Aberdeens strategy, processes and organisational structure
Business planning and analysis processes
Salesforce experience is desirable
Strong knowledge of core products and investment capabilities including equities, fixed income, private markets and multi asset as well as sustainable capabilities
Demonstrable experience working closely with sales, product, marketing and investment teams
Strong ability to plan effectively, rally and influence constituents and take initiative
Self-starter, highly motivated and can work independently
High level of personal integrity, regard for our clients and respect for colleagues
Strong team ethos, with an ability to work in both a supporting and leading role
Skills & Experience Preferable
Bachelor’s degree or higher
8-10 years’ experience within an investment management organization
Strong written/oral communication skills
Strong work ethic, professional demeanour, and an intellectual curiosity
