PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • Under the direction of the Global Head of Procurement and in collaboration with the Asia Finance team, the Regional Procurement Lead will establish and oversee all sourcing and indirect procurement activities for Santen Asia. In the near future, this role will also support direct procurement initiatives.
  • The Regional Procurement Lead holds a key role in formulating indirect procurement strategies which cover indirect purchase of goods, services, consumable that are essential for business operations.
  • Analyze the entire procurement cycle within Asia Region with the aim of optimization.
  • Undertake key strategies in improving margins and adapting company cost structure to current business climate.
  • The Asia Procurement Lead will also support the Global Procurement team to improve performance and organization through global or cross-regional initiatives.

Job Description

  • With the support of Global Procurement, develop the strategic sourcing plan & robust category management to drive cost improvement through strategic sourcing and effective negotiation.
  • Drive procurement strategy for indirect procurement categories (Professional Services, IT, Marketing, Facilities, Travel, Meetings, etc).
  • Establish trusted business partner relationships, provide effective business support to ensure quality of supply at optimum Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) with optimized business results including supply assurance, cost, quality, service, innovation & sustainability.
  • Implement performance monitoring systems to ensure supplier compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead Supplier Selection Activities and drives supply base optimization. Lead negotiations and complete contracts with complex suppliers. 
  • Provide input on risk mitigation, business continuity, cost management and operation strategies.
  • Lead and drive the implementation of Coupa and the P2P process across Asian countries, ensuring alignment with the global approach.
  • Define standard operating procedures for Asia’s sourcing process and ensure strong adoption.
  • Monitor “Procure-to-Pay” end-to-end tools and processes, recommend and implement changes and improvement on a continuous basis to optimize workflows, reduce administrative burden and ensure compliant procurement practices.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with global procurement counterparts to ensure alignment with global procurement strategies and take the lead on certain global spend categories.
  • Engage with regional teams, such as finance and operations, to support procurement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Degree in Procurement/Purchasing/Sourcing or Finance
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in procurement field, pro-active, action and solution oriented including sourcing selection and negotiation with providers, contracting best practices, category strategy management, spend analysis, supplier relationship management.
  • proven ability to lead and execute project and business improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership qualities and excellent influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Global or at least regional experience with good understanding of Asia market’s complexity, culture, contract landscape, local practices & regulation.
  • Ability to manage and engage with senior stakeholders with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective working partnerships at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills, coupled with general business understanding and the ability to pro-actively identify new opportunities, building organizational commitment to act on these.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Having a regional footprint & mind set. Consistently considers issues and ideas using a regional perspective.
  • Working Knowledge of Coupa or other spend management platform
