Marsh is seeking an Asia Controller to join our high-performing Controllership team. This role will be based in Singapore. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

What can you expect?
The Asia Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and control environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls. This role leads the Controllership team across the Asia region in managing financial reporting and providing strategic insights to support decision-making at the regional level. Additionally, this role places a strong emphasis on stakeholder management, collaborating and liaising with Finance, Business leaders, and senior leadership across the company. The position will also interact with external auditors and regulatory bodies. This role reports to the Assistant Controller, Accounting & Operations.
We will count on you to:
- Provide proactive leadership and management for the regional controllership team, focusing on staff development and mentorship while overseeing all accounting decisions for the region.
- Foster and maintain strong stakeholder engagement by actively partnering with finance and business colleagues in day-to-day operations and special projects, ensuring alignment of financial strategies with business objectives, while driving continuous improvement and participating in integrations resulting from mergers and acquisition.
- Oversee internal financial controls and compliance, ensuring final approval of P&L and balance sheet production, as well as supplemental financial information required by the company.
- Achieve closing timetables and ensure adherence to regulatory, statutory and tax management requirements; develop and implement country-level accounting policies and procedures as needed.
- Present financial statements for the assigned area to management bodies, providing individual accounting judgments through accounting memos for unique transactions or non-routine events.
- Ensure adherence with year-end statutory, audit, and tax financial requirements, including compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
- Ensure proper execution of internal controls, including US GAAP reporting, and maintain approval authority for compliance with the global SOX regime and regional approval procedures.
- Provide and oversee financial information for regional functions, infrastructure, and firm-wide initiatives, supporting both regional and local projects.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications are desirable.
- CA or CPA-qualified with strong technical experience in US GAAP, internal controls and audit standards.
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a Controller (or equivalent) role in organisations of similar scale and complexity.
- Proven experience in controls, governance and audit processes, especially within complex or matrixed environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in group reporting and consolidation across multi-entity, international organisations.
- Clear understanding of financial reporting standards and tax obligations.
- Direct, on-the-ground exposure to Asian markets.
- Pragmatic, hands-on operator who engages, influences and drives outcomes across diverse teams.
- Inspirational leader with a track record of building, coaching and motivating high-performing global, regional and local teams.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and presence; able to build and sustain influential relationships with senior leaders across a global network.
- Agile, resilient and self-motivated, able to work independently while collaborating closely with MMC’s global network.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with excellent active listening; fluent in English and ideally an Asian language.
