What It's Like to Work at GitLab
GitLab Employee Perspectives
GitLab is a special place. It presents an unparalleled opportunity to influence how enterprise software is built and deployed. It will connect you with people you feel so aligned with that you’ll remain close friends years after you part ways with the company. It will challenge you in ways you’ve never experienced. It will allow you to adopt a lifestyle you didn’t think was possible to have alongside a hard-charging career. GitLab is unlike anywhere else you’ll ever work and is guaranteed to make an impact on you, your career and your life.

For the three years I’ve been here, I’ve felt continuously more empowered to contribute, and feel safe in doing so. It starts with us having great leadership, from the CEO down. We have these all-hands calls, where anyone can ask our CEO questions. We also have weekly AMA, or ask-me-anything, sessions. That kind of transparency allows us to understand and contribute right away to what leadership is thinking about.

What really struck me early on was how GitLab genuinely cares about its employees as whole people, not just as resources. You’re not just another number here — there’s real investment in your success and well-being. The support I’ve received from my manager and colleagues, combined with the company’s values-driven approach, made it clear within those first few weeks that I’d found the right fit.

The culture of work-life balance at GitLab allows for me to prioritize my family and hobbies, ensuring that my cup is full and I have the motivation and drive to put into my team and clients at work. The amount of room for growth and moving up in the company is extremely motivating. The degree of support and recognition for reaching quotas and goals is out of this world and makes me as an employee feel beyond valued and important, further enhancing my commitment to the company and my overall career goals.
