Job Description

Responsibilities

We are looking for a skilled Functional Business Analyst (FBA) with Project Management experience to drive the delivery of Global Markets (GM) solutions within UOB bank.

The role is positioned as a functional and business analysis owner, with strong expertise in requirements gathering, solution design, and stakeholder engagement across Global Markets trading systems, processes, and delivery risk. Project management skills are required to support delivery execution and ensure successful outcomes.

As part of the GM Business Technology and Operations team, the incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Leading requirements analysis and translating them into clear, actionable business requirements, functional specification and delivery scope, with ownership of end-to-end outcomes.

  • Driving functional gap analysis, process mapping, and business workflow optimization to enhance Global Markets technology and operational efficiency.

  •  Formulating solution options and supporting delivery trade-offs to balance Front Office, regulatory, and operational expectations.

  • Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, Front Office, Operations, Risk, and Technology teams to ensure requirements are accurately captured and delivered.

  • Managing and supporting SIT/UAT cycles, including test scenario development, defect triage, and functional validation of deliverables.

  • Providing business analysis leadership in resolving issues across Front Office, P&L, Market Data, and trade booking domains, including root cause analysis and remediation.

  • Developing practical domain roadmaps and phased delivery approaches, supporting the enterprise’s move towards the future state vision, considering business, technical, and delivery constraints.

  • Communicating principles, standards, vision, and roadmaps to stakeholders, proactively managing expectations and addressing questions/concerns.

  • Driving project management activities such as tracking progress, managing dependencies, risks, and constraints, and providing regular status updates to senior management.

  • Representing the business analysis function independently and with authority in senior forums, working groups, and governance committees.

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to business and IT stakeholders, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, manage pushback, and influence outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated leadership in functional business analysis roles, preferably within financial services or banking.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on Functional Business Analysis experience in Global Markets or Capital Markets environments.

  • Strong domain knowledge across Global Markets products (e.g. FX, Rates, Credit Derivatives) and trading system lifecycles.

  • Proven track record in requirements gathering, gap analysis, solution design, and business process mapping.

  • Experience managing SIT/UAT cycles, test scenario development, and defect triage.

  • Ability to identify gaps, propose pragmatic solutions, and articulate delivery impacts, prioritizing business outcomes over documentation.

  • Previous exposure to multiple Global Banking platforms or streams is preferable.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

  • Fluent in English and Chinese for cross-border communication with our overseas offices.

  • 3–5 years of project management experience supporting delivery execution, tracking progress, managing risks, and providing status updates.

  • Experience operating in Waterfall and Agile Delivery environments, with judgement on when to apply each.

  • Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and delivery tracking tools, with emphasis on transparency and control.

  • Strong collaboration skills across business and technology teams.

  • Strong interpersonal / communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and handle challenging conversations.

  • Ownership mindset with the confidence to make decisions and be personally accountable for outcomes.

  • Methodical, analytical, and organized, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to simplify complex issues for senior audiences.
