About DayOne Data Centers

DayOne Data Centers is a Singapore-headquartered global digital infrastructure platform that develops and operates next-generation data centers across Asia Pacific and Europe. Trusted by leading hyperscalers and businesses, the company engineers, builds, and operates high-capacity, AI-ready campuses with speed, scale, and reliability.

About the Role

You'll find and secure the land and power that DayOne's next Asia-Pacific campuses will be built on. Power is the tightest constraint in most of the region's markets, so the work starts with utilities, grid capacity and government allocation, and works back to sites that can be developed on time and on budget. You'll originate sites, lead due diligence and negotiations, and take each opportunity to investment committee with a clear recommendation. You'll work closely with Development, Legal, Finance and Commercial so that every site you secure matches what hyperscale customers need.

Land and Site Origination

  • Originate, screen and secure sites for new data center campuses working with landowners, developers, government land agencies and local partners.
  • Lead site due diligence with Development, Engineering and Legal, covering zoning, title, flood and ground conditions, and access to power, water and fiber.
  • Negotiate land acquisition, lease and option agreements, taking each site to investment committee with a clear recommendation.

Power and Critical Resources

  • Secure grid connections and power allocations with utilities and transmission operators, from first enquiry through application to capacity reservation.
  • Develop power supply options with Sustainability and Finance, including renewable power purchase agreements and on-site generation.
  • Secure the water, fiber and other infrastructure each site needs, and track resource constraints by market.

Government and Market Entry

  • Work with government agencies, economic development bodies and regulators on approvals, incentives and capacity allocation programs, alongside Corporate Affairs and Legal.
  • Assess new markets for land and power availability, regulation and cost, and recommend where DayOne should enter next.
  • Maintain a regional view of competitors' land and power positions and emerging policy constraints.

Pipeline and Handover

  • Build and manage a pipeline of sites by stage, megawatts and timing, aligned with the capacity plan and customer demand.
  • Hand secured sites to Development and Delivery with commitments, conditions and risks documented.
  • Work with Commercial and Strategic Business Development so sites match hyperscaler requirements, and join customer discussions where land and power are deciding factors.

Requirements

  • 15+ years' experience in land acquisition, site origination, power development or infrastructure business development, in data centers, utilities, energy or large-scale real estate development.
  • Personal track record securing land and power for data center campuses or comparable power-intensive developments.
  • Experience negotiating grid connections and power allocations with utilities in at least one Asia-Pacific market.
  • Experience negotiating land acquisition, lease and option agreements, and leading site due diligence.
  • Existing relationships with utilities, landowners, government authorities and developers
  • Working knowledge of the regulation, permitting and incentive regimes that affect data center development in Asia-Pacific.
  • Takes sites to approval with a clear recommendation, including recommending against sites that miss power, cost or risk thresholds.
  • Builds trust with landowners, utilities and officials, and keeps it through long, multi-stage negotiations.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, the working language across DayOne's seven markets.
  • Willing to travel regularly across the priority markets.

Nice to Have

  • Established relationships with hyperscalers and cloud providers, and experience aligning sites to their requirements.
  • Commercial experience with hyperscale customers, such as pre-leasing or build-to-suit negotiations.
  • Experience with renewable power purchase agreements or on-site generation.
  • Background at a data center developer, utility or infrastructure fund.
