Clearlake Shipping, together with Clearlake Chartering USA, subsidiaries of Gunvor Group, is one of the largest charterers of tanker vessels in the world. With chartering and freight trading activities in Singapore, Geneva and Houston, the company effectively covers any chartering needs the Group or market may have at any given time, supported by a highly motivated and experienced team of freight traders and operators around the world. The operations and claims are handled out of Singapore and Tallinn. Since 2003, Clearlake Shipping has operated around a high quality fleet of tankers, LPG and LNG carriers on both a spot and a time-charter basis. Clearlake’s activities include chartering an average of 1,500 vessels annually, performing freight hedging (FFA), operations, claims handling and terminal safety consultations.
Group Shipping activities include ownership stakes in some vessels that Clearlake charters, entering into joint ventures for newly built refined products tankers.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the Time-charter in (TCI) and Time-charter out (TCO) database.
- Hire settlement of our fleet:
- Ensure final settlement of statement of accounts and proper closure of all outstanding accounts in a timely manner to facilitate receipt of our funds
- Familiar with various Time-charter party/Charter Party/Pool agreement teams and evaluate/counter ship owners’ claims on owners’ expenses
- Mediate disputes with owners (off-hire, reimbursement etc.)
- Liaise with ship owners on monthly hires and reconciliation of final hires.
- Control role
- Ensure freight invoices are invoiced and sent out by the operations team to counterparties and follow up with the relevant counterparties to ensure freight is received.
- Ensure on-time voyage reviews are sent by the operations team to freight traders and claims are processed upon completion of the voyage.
- Monitor and provide KPIs of the operations team.
- Veslink - Ensure the operations team is updating the system through the Veslink portal daily.
- EU/ETS
- To manage the allowances to be calculated by monitoring and validating the amount to be transferred to owners.
- Liaise with owners, data validation center and accounts to ensure smooth process.
- Ensure TCI/TCO data are correct and updated.
- Liaison with joint-venture partners and risk team on providing supporting documents and payment.
- Identify and propose additional and appropriate control functions to address any potential breach in process gaps
- Ensure that essential documents are tagged in Sedna to be deposited in our sharepoint, and monitor that the same are done by operators on a timely basis
- Provide coverage on administration matters (e.g. KYC, signatures for contract) when necessary
- Other ad-doc duties as assigned by manager
Candidate’s Profile
- Degree in Maritime studies or at least 3-year experience in the shipping industry
- Operational knowledge of shipping operations with ability to identify variances and provide guidance to operators in the daily PNL
- Familiar with using IMOS, with ability to use various modules and in extracting and creating reports
- Familiar in using Sedna email system and keen interest in automation or AI is a plus
- Able to use excel proficiently to organize data
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and a team player
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Meticulous, proactive, analytical, resolution focus and ability to work under pressure
