Our Journey

ShopBack started as a spark of inspiration one night in 2014 when Henry and Joel were brainstorming ideas in Henry’s car. That lightbulb moment — earning Cashback while shopping online — was just the beginning. Fueled by the countless possibilities, the team locked themselves in a hotel room for 24 hours to code the very first prototype. Their mission? To revolutionize shopping by helping advertisers market more cost-effectively, while making every purchase more rewarding for shoppers.

Today, ShopBack is the leading shopping, rewards, and payments platform in Asia-Pacific, empowering 45 million shoppers across 12 markets. With 20,000+ partners and over half a million transactions daily, we’re redefining the way the world shops. As we expand globally, we’re looking for adventurous, driven individuals to help us build The World’s Most Rewarding Way to Shop.

Join our mission to revolutionise shopping!

At ShopBack, we're dedicated to redefining the shopping journey for a more rewarding and user-friendly experience.

As the UX writer intern, you'll support content efforts in the design, development, adoption, and use of ShopBack’s suite of consumer and business products. Being part of Product Design means you’ll work closely with our distributed team of designers, researchers, and product managers to craft simple, intuitive products that are a delight to use, for our members across 12 markets.

You’re likely someone who understands the value of words in design. You know how to say the same thing in many ways. Which words to use. How to arrange those words - sentences - paragraphs. When to show and when to tell. And you can sense how people might react to your choices.

You also know that words aren’t the only way to communicate, just as design isn’t all about making things look pretty. That great stuff happens when specialists in different fields work closely and share openly towards a common goal.

Join us and be part of the team that's redefining how people shop and enjoy rewards.

Your Adventure Ahead

  • Scope of work:
  • Collaborate with designers, other UX writers and product managers to design and build delightful products and features.
  • Contribute ideas on messaging, and information structure, and write clear, concise and considerate copy to guide ShopBack members in their interactions with ShopBack app, website and browser extension.
  • Support user research activities like user interviews, surveys, usability testing and synthesising data.
  • Maintain and contribute to existing ShopBack content guide, and advise marketing, campaign and customer service teams on voice, tone and style.

  • What you will do and learn:
  • Solve complex problems: Your goal is to simplify the user experience. You'll transform tricky technical challenges and business needs into designs that are as easy to use as your favourite mobile app.
  • Gather user insights: You'll use appropriate research methods to learn about our users and their needs. This helps us identify problems and develop with solutions that make sense.
  • Craft intuitive user interfaces: You'll work with designers to develop beautiful, easy to understand user interfaces.
  • Design for everyone: Working alongside the localisation manager, your copy, as part of the design, will be adaptable across various product features and resonate with users from 13 different countries and cultures.
  • Measure impact: Data is our compass. You’ll look at both numbers and feedback from users to create designs that are not just stylish, but also grounded in evidence.
  • Advocate for users: You’ll get to know our users inside out - how they use our product, what they’re thinking when they’re on a particular task or screen. You’ll advocate for an improveduser experience and propose ideas to enhance it.
  • Influence the product roadmap: You'll collaborate closely with our product team to prioritise problems to solve and experiment with ideas to improve the product.
  • Collaborate with many teams: You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, data and research experts, our marketing teams, and business leaders every day, in a fast-moving environment. It's a big team effort to make our product great!

  • What it's like working here:
  • Let's own our challenges! Here, we're more than just job titles. When a problem arises, everyone has the power to step in and make a real impact on our organization and the products we create.
  • Every day is a chance to improve. Perfection isn't our starting point; we believe in learning and adapting as we move forward, whether it's in product development or our own professional growth.
  • We succeed as a team. Our focus is on shared success, not individual triumphs. By bringing together our diverse skills, backgrounds, and perspectives, we're better equipped to tackle even the most difficult tasks together.

Esentials to Succeed

  • We're on the lookout for someone special, and here's the kind of profile we're excited about:
  • You’re good with words: You understand tone and nuance, pace and rhythm and can write in many styles to communicate the same message. You have writing samples that demonstrate your ability
  • You’re a problem solver first and a writer second: You approach a design task as a user problem to solve, and know that content is nothing without context. Case studies of your previous work clearly articulate how you solve problems.
  • You have a good UX foundation: You can articulate what good user experience means, and are able to break down the elements of a good experience.
  • You’re a quick learner: As a UX writer, you’ll have to quickly understand the problem, product features, user journeys and front-end and back-end systems involved in the environment. You’ll also need to get comfortable with design tools, design patterns and content guidelines in a short time.
  • Effective communicator: You're good at engaging with users, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and liaising with engineers and clearly articulate what you mean without fluff.
  • Proactive: You thrive in a fast-paced environment. You're the kind of person who takes the initiative and tackles challenges head-on.
  • E-commerce interest: You have a genuine interest in the e-commerce sector, and it's a field you're enthusiastic about.

  • If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Let's chat about how you could be an exceptional addition to our team! Apply now with your resume and portfolio (must have).
