We’re looking for a Game Designer / Developer with strong implementation skills — someone who thrives on both conceiving fun gameplay ideas and making them playable. You’ll contribute to design discussions and creative direction, then dive into Unity to prototype, integrate assets, and polish the final experience.
At our studio, you’ll work on multiple projects across the year — fast-moving, highly creative arcade titles that are big on fun but smaller in scope. New ideas are constantly flying around, and you’ll play a key role in testing, building, and shaping them into real experiences. If you enjoy variety, rapid prototyping, and seeing your work in front of players quickly, this is the role for you.
This isn’t a “paper design” role. We want a designer who’s resourceful, self-directed, and confident taking a rough idea and building a prototype in a day — making smart decisions on the fly to keep momentum moving forward.
LAI Games is a leading Singapore-based game studio at the forefront of revolutionizing arcade entertainment. As a key player in the industry, we pride ourselves on crafting immersive and thrilling gaming experiences that captivate players worldwide. We develop our games in house, often in collaboration with top-tier video game creators and integrating the newest hardware from renowned technology suppliers in our arcade games. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute actively to game design discussions, pitching and refining new gameplay ideas.
- Prototype mechanics and gameplay loops rapidly in Unity — often within days.
- Implement levels, mechanics, and content with a focus on fun, polish, and clarity.
- Integrate assets from artists and programmers, including animations, audio, UI, and VFX.
- Balance and fine-tune game feel, difficulty, and pacing through iteration and playtesting.
- Juggle multiple projects in parallel, helping push several small-to-mid-scope arcade games forward.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and find creative, practical solutions to keep projects moving.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2+ years of experience in game development or design (studio, indie, or strong personal projects).
- Solid Unity skills, especially for content implementation, level creation, and iteration.
- Familiarity with asset pipelines: importing, integrating, and testing animations, audio, UI, and FX.
- Comfort with C# scripting for prototyping (Python experience a plus).
- Resourceful and self-directed — able to take a rough idea and make it playable quickly.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to make smart design choices independently.
- Collaborative and communicative, able to work across art, programming, and hardware teams.
- Thrives in small, multidisciplinary teams where flexibility and communication are key.
- Passion for games, arcade experiences, and creating fun, instantly engaging gameplay.
- Strong portfolio of relevant work, or willingness to complete a short design & prototype test if requested.
- This is an onsite role at our Singapore studio.
Bonus Points
- Shipped games (indie, mobile, console, or arcade).
- Experience with arcade or hardware-integrated projects.
Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed, we encourage you to apply if you have a strong subset of these skills and a passion for creating games.
