Position Summary:
The Technology Transfer Project Manager is part of the Business Management Department and responsible for the effective and efficient management of client-related projects in order to improve client service and satisfaction in the overall best interest of Patheon. The Technology Transfer Project Manager is able to fully master technical and project management skills with respect to client and business requirements and identifies solutions aligned with these requirements. They are responsible for Independently manage a large, complex project portfolio or multiple client projects, planning and delivering at all project stages.
The scope of the position covers three major areas:
- Technical Excellence
- Project management
- Client Experience and Relationship Management
- Relationship Management Growth.
This is done with the teamwork of others in the Business Management & Technology Transfer functions.
SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS/PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:
1. New Business Development:
- Ensure that client’s requirements related to the acquired project order are received and processed by internal functions. Provide the definition of new business opportunities while meeting with the existing/potential clients, together with Business Management, during technical meetings with the scope of obtaining new products or the revision of the progress status/completion of projects.
- Collaborates well, builds effective business relationships and brings new or alternative perspectives forward to overcome difficulty or uncertainty and builds a coalition.
2. Technology Transfer:
- Handle more strategic TTs and TTs associated with new facilities and associated complexities that brings at a new site.
- Maintain continuous contact with the clients, focusing on the clients’ requirements and the interests of the company.
- Negotiate project conflicts within the company and with the vital customer contacts, ensuring resolutions that are amenable to both parties and/or advising management of potential risks & issues.
- Generate key documentation including the Technology Transfer List, Gap Analysis that includes process design, Technology Transfer Plan, Technology Transfer Report, Project Timeline, Action Item lists and ensure protocol/report are issued according to project’s timelines.
- Manages project efficiently in different systems to provide accurate forecasting information to core team, leadership and the client. Maintains accountability for individual and team outcomes.
3. Project Management:
- Independently manages a large, complex project portfolio or multiple client projects, planning and delivering at all project stages.
- Structures project(s) in line with client strategy by demonstrating an entrepreneurial approach; optimizes processes to identify needs, defines resources requirements, supervises performance and identifies improvement opportunities.
- Serve as focal point and communication link between Company and customer.
- Lead, track, follow up and supervise project activities to ensure alignment with expectations and agreed-upon timeline.
- Oversee planning, execution and closure of all Engineering/Feasibility/Optimization phase activities till PPQ batches completion.
- Chair regular meetings and correspondence between internal and client teams
- Mentors other team members on project resolution.
- Extensive understanding of customer contract terms and conditions; skilled in negotiation skills and techniques and coaches others in effective contract management.
4. Risk Management:
- Support and advice Business Management with the definition of the technical risks related to the acquisition of the new job orders, through collecting vital details required for the evaluation, and completing the evaluation, respecting the interests of the company. Identification and troubleshooting of the technical problems supported by the specialists of involved functions.
- Support on preparing FMEA documents.
- Work closely with the Technical Operations to fully understand scope and requirements for projects.
5. Internal Support and Client Relations:
- Provide support and project coordination (where needed) to Validation and Production during the Clinical/Registration/Validation/Stability phase, including review and approval of process clinical/registration/validation documents.
- Leads project efficiently in different systems to provide accurate forecasting information to core team, leadership and the client. Maintains accountability for individual and team outcomes.

Internal

- Coordinate with Thermo Fisher Subject Matter Experts (SME) and use the systems implemented at other sites.
- Assumes the leadership role on projects as appropriate, handles and supports cross-functional teams to be successful, and strategically plans an effective and efficient timeline to be completed on time.
- Harmonized Technology Transfer process across the sterile network and align with Global Technology Transfer Operations
External
- Potential clients
- Existing clients until the time of the production transfer from the client to Thermo Fisher
6. GMP:
- Ensure cGMP is applied in work area and aligns with cGMP in all areas of the relevant business, as required.
- Knowledgeable of quality standards and partners optimally with critical team members to deliver best products.
- Understand and apply as needed, emergency procedures and safe systems of work.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent (depending on country) in a scientific/pharmaceutical area (Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biotechnology etc.) or in engineering.
Technical skills
- Pharmaceutical techniques
- Knowledgeable of Pharmaceutical Production
- Advanced Client service/ Project Management experience
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 6 years’ previous experience in Engineering, Productions, Quality, or relevant Pharmaceutical environment.
- Good experience in project management and /or client service.
- Sound knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices including Singapore HSA, PIC/S, EMA, US FDA etc.
- Experience with Sterile Drug Product manufacturing & CMO/CDMO Operations is strongly preferred.
Personality Traits:
- Negotiation & Presentation skills.
- Interpersonal and Project Management experience and skills.
- Strong Ability to work and to guide a team as well as independently.
Desirable:
- PMP certification is an asset, as is client service/ project management experience.
- Commercial business orientation is a plus
