About the Role

As a Technical Services Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, control, and delivery of the primary electrical infrastructure maintenance across the site, ensuring full compliance with statutory legislation and industry best practice. This role has accountability for the Global Switch Primary HV/LV infrastructure, including the planning, execution, and governance of the 5‑year periodic fixed wiring inspection and testing programme.

You will play a key role in current and future infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership and assurance from design through to delivery. Working collaboratively with local site leadership, Group management, and specialist electrical engineering partners (including CBRE), you will ensure engineering strategies, policies, and systems of work are implemented consistently and effectively across operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of primary and secondary electrical systems, ensuring 24/7 service continuity and infrastructure resilience.
  • Own the delivery of the Primary HV/LV electrical maintenance strategy, ensuring all activities align with the Electrical Maintenance Strategy Document.
  • Support the implementation of scalable engineering and maintenance models that adapt to evolving site demands and long-term business objectives.
  • Oversee all planned, reactive, and statutory electrical maintenance, including scheduling, resource planning, and technical assurance.
  • Lead the rolling programme of 5‑year fixed wiring inspection and testing, ensuring full planning, coordination, execution, and close‑out.
  • Ensure all maintenance and project-related works are delivered to scope, budget, quality, and programme milestones, contributing to site operational excellence.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory legislation, regulatory standards, internal governance, and audit requirements.
  • Act as the senior technical authority for incident response, escalation, and root cause analysis related to electrical systems.
  • Embed a strong culture of safety, resilience, accountability, and risk awareness within engineering operations.
  • Review and influence equipment selection, system design, and commissioning to improve long-term performance and reliability.
  • Drive a culture of continuous learning and failure elimination, maximising lessons learned from incidents and near misses.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Security, Commercial, Compliance, and Group Engineering teams to integrate technical services into broader site operations.
  • Translate strategic objectives into clear, actionable engineering plans that support business continuity, customer commitments, and growth.

About You

You are a confident and credible technical leader with excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels. You thrive in collaborative environments and bring clarity, structure, and calm leadership to complex operational challenges. With strong practical experience in electrical infrastructure and maintenance management, you are passionate about driving operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

  • Leads site‑level engineering strategies that ensure infrastructure reliability, resilience, and service continuity.
  • Experienced in managing complex critical environments, with a strong focus on uptime, safety, and customer confidence.
  • Applies sound judgement in maintenance planning, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Understands the relationship between engineering performance, commercial outcomes, regulatory compliance, and ESG commitments.
  • Proficient in the use of CMMS, monitoring platforms, and performance analytics to manage assets and incidents.
  • Leverages data to support decision‑making and improve operational visibility and reporting accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of electrical compliance frameworks, audit processes, and statutory obligations.
  • Leads incident investigation and embeds risk‑aware practices into day‑to‑day engineering operations.
