The role supports the planning, integration and control of delegated technical and project-management scopes across the full delivery lifecycle, combining strong project-management capability with sufficient automation and systems-integration understanding to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, challenge technical assumptions and provide clear inputs for Project Director decisions.

  • Support the Project Director in delivering a large, complex automation project and lead delegated technical-integration and project-management scopes in line with the overall project objectives, governance and authority matrix.
  • Develop and control execution plans, schedules, resources, budgets, cost forecasts, cash flow, risks and opportunities, procurement activities, changes and recovery actions for assigned scopes; provide accurate status, decision inputs and timely escalations to the Project Director.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary work packages across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, site installation, controls/software, testing, commissioning and QHSE activities, ensuring interfaces and dependencies are actively managed.
  • Understand the complete automation solution and manage interfaces across mechanical equipment, electrical systems, PLC/SCADA, industrial networks, controls, software and operational processes.
  • Translate contractual and customer requirements into controlled deliverables, acceptance criteria, interface responsibilities, verification activities and project milestones.
  • Coordinate customers, consultants, internal stakeholders, vendors and subcontractors in alignment with the Project Director; lead delegated project, design, interface and progress meetings; and provide clear management reporting and recommendations.
  • Plan and govern design reviews, FAT, SAT, system integration testing, commissioning, performance demonstration, handover and final-acceptance readiness for assigned scopes in accordance with BGMS Gate requirements and the overall project plan.
  • Maintain commercial and contractual awareness within delegated authority, keep decisions, actions and project documentation traceable, and coach junior project managers, project engineers and early-career team members through structured delegation and review.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems or a related Engineering discipline.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience delivering complex engineered or industrial automation systems, including substantial experience leading multidisciplinary work packages or major-project scopes as a Technical Project Manager, Project Manager or equivalent.
  • Proven project-delivery experience within large, complex project environments across contract handover, design, procurement, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, customer acceptance and close-out.
  • Strong project-management capability covering scope, schedule, budget and cost control, resources, risks and opportunities, procurement, contracts, stakeholders, reporting, change control and recovery planning, with experience supporting Project Director or senior project leadership decisions.
  • Strong working understanding of industrial automation and system integration, including PLC/SCADA, industrial communications, controls, software interfaces and structured troubleshooting; hands-on programming is not required.
  • Experience leading FAT, SAT, system integration testing, commissioning, performance demonstration and formal customer acceptance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, Excel and PowerPoint; PMP, IPMA or an equivalent project-management qualification is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills; strong written and spoken English; and willingness to travel and support site activities as required.
