Description of the Role

A Financial Lines Claims Technical Manager specializes in managing and overseeing claims related to financial lines insurance products, such as Directors and Officers (D&O) liability, Financial Institutions Professional Indemnity (FIPI), Professional Indemnity (PI), Cyber and other financial or professional risks. He/She is responsible for overseeing the technical handling of complex and high-value financial lines claims. This role involves providing expert guidance on claims strategy, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and driving operational excellence within the financial lines claims team. The manager will also act as a key liaison between internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients to ensure claims are resolved efficiently and fairly.


Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversee the technical handling of financial lines claims, including complex, high-value, or contentious cases.
  • Review referrals and provide appropriate feedback to team so as to allow for learning and improvements. 
  • Provide expert advice on coverage interpretation, liability assessment, and claim resolution strategies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team of financial lines claims professionals.
  • Work within local and regional operating processes and claim handling procedures to ensure that quality claim service is rendered to all stakeholders in accordance with Chubb claims philosophy.
  • Effectively manage and supervise Financial Lines claims underwritten and reported in Singapore against policy terms and conditions, company guidelines, local operating procedures and claims management guidelines.
  • Collate claims information and data within Singapore as required for reporting purposes including verifying completeness and accuracy of reports.
  • Recommend modifications and improvements to established procedures to improve productivity.
  • Attend to claim enquiries and feedback, maintain  positive  relationship  with  all customers, brokers and service providers.
  • Work with internal colleagues to manage accounts, contribute to discussions with business units for products developments and loss control.
  • Ensure that appropriate claims management and underwriters are made aware on a timely basis of specific claims issues or trends which may impact underwriting decisions.
  • Manage and supervise claims to finality within designated authority and Chubb claims management guidelines.
  • Ensure that loss reserves are set and maintained in accordance with Chubb guidelines, timely updates of claims data made into systems and correctness of systems and file records.
  • Use external resources in accordance with the Chubb guidelines and philosophies. This includes the engagement of appropriate service providers where required and management of such providers and cases towards timely and effective resolution. 
  • Identify and provide technical training and mentorship to claims adjusters and other team members.
  • Conduct audits and quality reviews of claims files to maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Address and resolve any compliance or technical issues identified during audits.
Qualifications

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Possess a qualifying law degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in claims management, including at least 2 years in a technical or supervisory capacity.
  • Extensive experience in handling large and complex Directors & Officers (D&O) and Financial Institutions Professional Indemnity (FIPI) claims is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated excellence in analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong team player with proven ability to lead, work independently, and perform effectively under pressure.
