Job Description:

Position Summary
The Technical Specialist provides dedicated support to assigned sales specialists and territories, ensuring exceptional customer service before, during, and after orthopaedic procedures. Reporting to the Technical Specialist Supervisor, this role works closely with Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and Healthcare Professionals to coordinate instrumentation, implants, and workshop materials within the assigned territory.

As a member of the Trauma team, the Technical Specialist is required to support surgical cases in the operating theatre and participate in an on-call roster, including after-hours, weekend, and public holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to surgeons and operating theatre staff during orthopaedic procedures.

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s orthopaedic product portfolio and instrumentation.

  • Ensure all surgical instruments and implants are complete, clean, properly packed, and available before and after procedures.

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and composure in fast-paced and high-pressure clinical environments.

  • Support emergency and scheduled surgical cases, including participation in an on-call roster.

  • Be available to respond to case activation requests and arrive at the operating theatre within required response times.

  • Support surgeries outside regular business hours, including weekends and public holidays.

  • Assist Sales teams with product education sessions, workshops, in-services, and exhibitions.

  • Support inventory management activities, including consignment stock replenishment and inventory accuracy.

  • Monitor and report customer feedback, product complaints, market intelligence, and competitive activities to Sales.

  • Maintain confidentiality of company information, including pricing, product specifications, and business documentation.

  • Participate in periodic inventory audits and stock-taking activities.

Reporting Line

Reports to: Technical Specialist Supervisor (Trauma/CMF)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, Medical Technology, Medicine, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.

  • Customer-focused, adaptable, and able to perform effectively in demanding clinical settings.

  • Good command of written and spoken English.
