Job Description

The Visa Internship Program is the biggest step you can take to joining our Revolution of Payments Innovation. During this intensive 12-week internship, you will work on challenging and rewarding assignments, gain exposure to Visa business leaders and executives, and participate in social and networking opportunities. From technology to business, we are looking for people who can innovate, collaborate, and drive Visa into the next era of an already rapidly evolving digital marketplace. This is a hybrid position. Expectations of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

As a Systems Engineer Intern at Visa, you’ll join a collaborative Operations and Infrastructure organization that brings together specialized teams in reliability engineering, computer & storage, container platforms, cloud, automation, and security. These teams work together to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative IT infrastructure using modern technologies like Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and automation tools. You’ll be part of a fast-paced, supportive environment focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
  • Create reusable IaC templates aligned with security and technology standards.
  • Support infrastructure deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot cloud issues and recommend improvements.
  • Build automated deployment systems for speed and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and support remediation.
  • Use GenAI tools to enhance automation and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to GenAI initiatives and project development.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Write runbooks, SOPs, and technical guides.
  • Assist in building and maintaining on-prem Kubernetes clusters for production workloads.
  • Configure and manage Unix/Linux systems and ensure secure networking for containerized environments.
  • Develop automation scripts and workflows using Python, Ansible, and Go for cluster provisioning, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot Kubernetes cluster issues, networking configurations, and container runtime problems.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure compliance with Visa standards.
  • Document operational procedures and contribute to automation best practices.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • We welcome applications from Singapore citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents. All candidates must have existing, and continuing, right to work in Singapore.
  • Penultimate year undergraduate students graduating between December 2026 – May 2027
  • Able to work full-time for 12 weeks between May 2026 and August 2026.
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computing, Information Technology, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or coursework with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Basic programming or scripting skills in Python, Bash, Go, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Windows environments and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, operating systems, version control (Git), and GitOps concepts.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Awareness of cloud security principles, IAM, VPNs, firewalls, and compliance best practices.
  • Experience or coursework with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Exposure to generative AI platforms and cloud-native AI tools, or strong interest in AI-driven automation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to learn.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux administration and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls).
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (preferably on-prem deployments).
  • Proficiency in Python and Ansible for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with Go language for Kubernetes-related development and tooling.
  • Understanding of container technologies (Docker) and orchestration principles.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Helm, GitOps workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to OpenShift or similar enterprise container platforms.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
