The Systems Automation Engineer will be an integral part of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology team, responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our automated control systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of PLCs, SCADA, database management, systems integration, as well as industrial and collaborative robotics, supplemented by foundational knowledge in electrical systems and software development.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and maintain PLC systems for optimal performance of automation equipment.

  • Work closely with external vendors to develop automation systems for manufacturing processes.

  • Develop SCADA interfaces for enhanced control and monitoring of manufacturing processes.

  • Manage and architect database systems for robust data logging, analysis, and reporting.

  • Facilitate seamless systems integrations, ensuring interoperability between various hardware and software components.

  • Oversee the deployment and programming of collaborative and industrial robotic systems.

  • Apply electrical engineering principles to enhance and troubleshoot automation systems.

  • Understand and apply AI concepts to improve automation and machine learning capabilities within the manufacturing environment.

  • Create software solutions to bolster automation and data acquisition capabilities.

  • Conduct regular systems evaluations to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive project completion and meet strategic objectives.

  • Provide technical expertise and support to operational teams, undertaking knowledge transfer and best practices sharing.

  • Innovate and keep abreast of the latest developments in automation technology, advocating for their adoption where beneficial.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience with PLC systems, including programming and troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in SCADA systems and their application in an industrial setting.

  • Experience with database management, data logging, and query languages like SQL.

  • Solid grounding in systems integration principles and experience with various communication protocols.

  • Hands-on experience with both collaborative and traditional industrial robotics.

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of software engineering and programming languages relevant to automation.

  • Fundamental understanding of AI principles and their practical applications in industrial settings.

  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering with practical application in the design and maintenance of automated systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Experience in leading automation projects from conception through to deployment.

  • Familiarity with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms and applications.

Work Location:

  • Upper Changi (No company transport/ Bus 2, 5 and 37 available)

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require occasional travel to supplier sites or different company locations. Flexibility to work outside normal working hours during crucial project phases may be required.
