Reporting to the Deputy Head of Defence Hub, the System Support Engineer is responsible for delivering radar systems Installation, Checkout, Integration and Testing (ICIT), warranty and maintenance commitments for various Defence projects.

He/She will support the ICIT activities of Thales’ radar systems onboard the military platform during project phase. He/She could also be involved in the Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) of the Systems in the factory. The incumbent will also provide Level 2 technical assistance during Operation and Support (O&S) phase, supporting end-users and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and execute continuous improvement required on the systems.

He/She may also be assigned at times, to provide technical assistance in sonar and communication systems during project and maintenance phase.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with overseas internal Business Line (BL) to perform installation, checkout, integration and testing of radar systems onboard naval vessels
  • Participate in system interface and integration tests
  • Work with platform contractor in shipyard for mechanical installation and cabling works
  • Set up the radar system, align, calibrate and perform checks to prepare for acceptance tests
  • Conduct acceptance tests at the harbour and performance tests at sea
  • Evaluate system performance and generate test reports
  • Support end-users to resolve technical and maintenance issues (including overhaul, retrofit etc) during system warranty period
  • Manage and coordinate with stakeholders for other Integrated Logistics Support activities
  • Interface with other Technical Support, Engineering and Product Management teams to escalate and resolve issues
  • Monitor system performance and propose continuous improvement. Determine and implement specific technical needs to improve reliability and maintainability
  • Track and report project/service status
  • Establish close collaboration with stakeholders and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Support bids activities when required

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Electrical & Electronic or Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ engineering experience working in Communication/ Surveillance/ Sensors projects.
  • Relevant experience working with radar systems onboard vessels is preferred.
  • Possess knowledge on Linux system, Wireshark tool, network and cybersecurity
  • Experience in performing system maintenance and handling of SLAs
  • Solid trouble-shooting skills and problem-solving experience
  • Able to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Require occasionally to work outside office hours to complete tasks in critical situations
  • Familiar with defence business and comfortable working on different military platforms
  • Able to travel overseas occasionally for training and meetings
  • Ability to perform software testing will be an added advantage
  • Due to project nature (Defense), Singapore citizenship is mandatory
