About the Role

The Academic & Research Segment Lead is responsible for driving revenue growth and strengthening key relationships across Singapore’s academic and research ecosystem.

This role will focus on strategic account management, sales execution and customer engagement across key academic & research institutions. The role requires a strong understanding of the sector ecosystem and customer priorities, with the ability to identify, develop and convert short- and long-term sales opportunities. The candidate will work closely across divisions and functions to drive customer engagement and position Thermo Fisher broad portfolio of solutions effectively.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver strong segment growth by building trusted customer relationships, developing actionable account plans, driving opportunity conversion and expanding Thermo Fisher share of wallet across the segment.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for research and academic organisations in Singapore

  • Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders across academic & research institutions

  • Drive growth opportunities aligned with customer research priorities, funding initiatives and institutional objectives

  • Lead cross divisional collaboration and cross functional collaboration with commercial, technical, marketing, and business teams to deliver customer-focused solutions

  • Translate market intelligence and customer insights into actionable business strategy and growth initiatives

  • Drive opportunity development, pipeline expansion, strategic account reviews and business growth across assigned accounts

  • Own forecasting accuracy and deliver assigned business objectives and commercial targets

Keys to Success

Education

  • Degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Biotechnology or a related scientific discipline.

  • Advanced degree such as Master’s or PhD would be advantageous.

Experience

  • Strong understanding of Singapore academic, research and life sciences ecosystem, including stakeholders and funding landscape

  • Preferred: experience in business development, scientific sales or a related customer-facing commercial role

  • Demonstrated track record of driving business growth, developing strategic customer relationships, and achieving commercial objectives in fast paced, performance driven environment

  • Experience in the life sciences, research or related sectors is advantageous

  • Experience navigating complex matrix organizations and leading cross-functional collaboration to deliver customer-focused outcomes.

  • Results-oriented and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive business outcomes

  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate customer needs and market insights into practical business actions.
