Illumina is seeking a highly driven and talented software test engineer to join the R&D organization, where we are developing novel informatics solutions for Illumina’s multi-omics technologies. This role is to develop, modify and execute software test plans, automated scripts and programs for verifying and/or validating Illumina’s analytics software. You will work with software engineers and bioinformatics scientists to ensure quality computer integration into the overall functions of scientific computation, data acquisition and processing.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with software engineers and bioinformatics scientists to understand analysis algorithms and develop manual and automated test solution(s)

  • Create detailed test cases that cover various scenarios to validate software functionality, performance, and security.

  • Identify, report, and track defects, working closely with the development team to ensure timely resolution.

  • Develop end to end manual and automated integration, verification and continuous integration system.

  • Prepare necessary test artifacts required for formal software / product release

  • Lead, develop, maintain and enhance manual and automated test framework, tools and unit tests to improve testing efficiency and coverage.

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide feedback on software quality.

  • Contribute to the overall quality assurance process by participating in reviews, inspections, and audits.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, data science or a related field.

  • Minimum 6 years of SQA experience in cloud software testing is required.

  • Domain Knowledge in molecular biology and hands on experience in bioinformatics tools is a plus.

  • Strong expertise in manual testing methodologies. Strong understanding of SDLC processes and strong expertise in automated testing methodologies

  • Good programming skills, with proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, R.

  • Experience working with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, cloud computing such as Amazon Web Services and Docker/Kubernetes.

  • Experience with CI/CD, Continuous Testing, and related tools such as Git, Jenkins.

  • Familiarity with automation testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or others.

  • Experience in architecting end-to-end automated test suite for API and web apps and experience with test frameworks.

  • Experience writing verification plans, test cases, defects reports, executing & managing test cases using test cases management system and writing verification reports.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to identify potential issues and provide solutions.
