Illumina is seeking a highly driven and talented software test engineer to join the R&D organization, where we are developing novel informatics solutions for Illumina’s multi-omics technologies. This role is to develop, modify and execute software test plans, automated scripts and programs for verifying and/or validating Illumina’s analytics software. You will work with software engineers and bioinformatics scientists to ensure quality computer integration into the overall functions of scientific computation, data acquisition and processing.
Responsibilities:
Work with software engineers and bioinformatics scientists to understand analysis algorithms and develop manual and automated test solution(s)
Create detailed test cases that cover various scenarios to validate software functionality, performance, and security.
Identify, report, and track defects, working closely with the development team to ensure timely resolution.
Develop end to end manual and automated integration, verification and continuous integration system.
Prepare necessary test artifacts required for formal software / product release
Lead, develop, maintain and enhance manual and automated test framework, tools and unit tests to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide feedback on software quality.
Contribute to the overall quality assurance process by participating in reviews, inspections, and audits.

Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, data science or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of SQA experience in cloud software testing is required.
Domain Knowledge in molecular biology and hands on experience in bioinformatics tools is a plus.
Strong expertise in manual testing methodologies. Strong understanding of SDLC processes and strong expertise in automated testing methodologies
Good programming skills, with proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, R.
Experience working with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, cloud computing such as Amazon Web Services and Docker/Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD, Continuous Testing, and related tools such as Git, Jenkins.
Familiarity with automation testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or others.
Experience in architecting end-to-end automated test suite for API and web apps and experience with test frameworks.
Experience writing verification plans, test cases, defects reports, executing & managing test cases using test cases management system and writing verification reports.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to identify potential issues and provide solutions.
