Job Description

Job Summary:

As part of our development engineering expansion footprint, we are hiring for a few Staff System Firmware Engineer to be part of our global Power Motion Business (PMB) development organisation in the Singapore Campus.

We require a good background in embedded firmware development and real-time control systems. This professional would help design embedded firmware subsystems. These subsystems would improve and balance a variety of goals, including run-time performance, memory requirements, simplicity, and correctness. They would also balance development time and effort goals, reusability, extendibility, reliability, security, and safety. This firmware engineer would need to maximise the reuse of existing internal or external firmware components, frameworks, real-time operating system services, middleware and device drivers to shorten the product development cycle. This includes reviews of the subsystem and system design of others for system design possible effects.

You will report to the Firmware Security Manager, will work in hybrid, based in Singapore Office.


Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of system-level firmware platforms for industrial automation products independently and together global architecture team.
  • Establish drive firmware technology roadmaps, architecture strategies, and reusable framework programs across product families.
  • Design and implement firmware subsystems that optimize performance, memory use, reliability, maintainability, security, and scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership for integrating embedded firmware, communication protocols, operating systems, networking stacks, and cybersecurity technologies.
  • Define system interfaces and architecture requirements across firmware, hardware, systems, safety, and cybersecurity domains.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design reviews, and technical risk assessments.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to firmware engineers and technical leads across multiple teams.
  • Lead cause investigations for complex system-level issues affecting performance, reliability, networking, security, or interoperability.
  • Collaborate with global partners to align architecture decisions, technical direction, and product strategies.
  • Influence engineering processes, development methodologies, CI/CD practices, and software quality initiatives.
  • Represent us in technical discussions with customers, external partners, certification bodies, and industry working groups.
  • Be a technical leader and subject matter expert in a globally distributed engineering environment.

The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with concentration in firmware; or equivalent.
  • Possess a minimum of 7 years' experience in embedded system firmware development with an emphasis on the analysis, design, programming, and testing of real-time firmware systems and device drivers development using modern engineering practices using the C/C++ language (or other middle to high-level language).
  • Green Hills Integrity OS and Multi IDE, TCP/IP networking, Git or similar version control tools to create CI/CD Pipelines, and collaboration tools such as Jira and Jama.
  • We desire familiarity with agile processes like Scrum and SAFe.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience desired.
  • Expertise with the following tools and languages is desired: Python,
  • Cybersecurity training or certification.
  • Familiarity with CIP and CIP Security protocols.
  • Familiarity with real time operating system is required. FreeRTOS or Zephyr is preferrable.
  • Proven ability to specify and develop high quality, maintainable firmware subsystems or systems at a high rate of productivity required.
  • Well established ability to organize and direct activities of other employees and communicate with a globally distributed team is required.
  • Strong collaborator in a matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical information of a complex nature clearly and concisely in verbal and written form required.
  • Demonstrate customer centric culture to understand our internal and external customers.
