As a Senior Technical Writer, you will drive user success and product adoption by owning the end-to-end documentation strategy for high-complexity product areas and cross-functional initiatives. You will navigate ambiguous spaces, diving into technical workflows, reading technical designs, and interviewing subject matter experts to create scalable documentation. Your focus will be on transforming intricate system behaviors into clear, modular, topic-based content using DITA frameworks, while responsibly leveraging AI tools with strict verification loops to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
Your contributions as a Senior Technical Writer will directly optimize documentation processes, reduce support ticket overhead, and champion customer success. By acting as a strategic partner to Product Managers and Engineering leaders, you will negotiate priorities, identify content gaps that cause user friction, and contribute to release verification and signoff procedures. What You’ll Do
- Own the Content: Dive into complex, math-heavy product domains (like supply chain design and optimization) to architect and deliver clear, modular, topic-based content using advanced DITA frameworks.
- Thrive in Ambiguity: Navigate unstructured features and chaotic specs; proactively interview engineering SMEs, read source code, and run deep technical workflows to eliminate content gaps before they reach users.
- Lead Regional Release Signoff: Serve as the primary quality gatekeeper for release signoff and verification during India business hours, ensuring seamless, non-blocking operational coverage for global release cycles.
- Pioneer AI-Powered Workflows: Accelerate content creation and maintenance by responsibly leveraging AI and LLM tools, applying strict verification loops for accuracy, structure, and adherence to editorial standards.
- Partner Cross-Functionally: Build trusted relationships with Engineering and Product Management to negotiate priorities, advocate for user friction points, and directly impact ticket reduction and product velocity.

What You Will Bring to Coupa
- Proven SaaS & Domain Expertise: 7+ years of enterprise SaaS technical writing experience in fast-paced Agile environments, ideally with exposure to complex mathematical, algorithmic, or supply chain/ERP systems.
- Superior Communication Skills: Exceptional English fluency with deep mastery of grammar, composition rules, and style guide enforcement to deliver clear, localization-friendly documentation for global audiences and drive seamless asynchronous collaboration across time zones.
- Deep Technical Acumen: Ability to comfortably read technical designs, inspect source code, navigate engineering environments, and translate complex logic into intuitive user documentation.
- Mastery of DITA & CCMS: Hands-on expertise with topic-based authoring, XML/DITA schemas, content reuse strategies, metadata taxonomies, and Component Content Management Systems (CCMS).
- Modern Tooling & AI Fluency: Demonstrated experience using AI/LLM prompting techniques to accelerate content workflows while maintaining rigorous quality and factual validation standards.
- Autonomous Release Ownership: Strong judgment and accountability to independently evaluate release readiness, run verification workflows, and execute signoff decisions across global time zones.
- Data-Driven Strategy: Experience using search analytics, customer feedback, and support ticket metrics to continuously optimize documentation discoverability and user drop-off points.
