Lead development for MCP interfaces, collaborating on architecture and building intelligent agent systems that integrate with users' devices and applications.
We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to own MCP server development in Jan. You’ll lead architecture and implementation efforts that enable intelligent agents to interface directly with external tools like users’ browsers, devices, saas and more.
This is a high-impact role where your work will directly shape how users interact with our AI systems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build key MCPs
- Own end-to-end development of MCP interfaces, such as browser extensions, embedded agents, and other channel integrations
- Collaborate closely with product, research, and design to implement agent behaviors that feel natural, responsive, and intelligent
- Work with browser APIs, backend services, and task orchestration frameworks to help agents perceive, act, and adapt in real time
- Contribute to long-term architectural direction and help define best practices across our engineering team
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience shipping complex user-facing or systems software in production
- Strong backend and/or systems design skills, with experience working on distributed systems or runtime platforms
- Experience building agent systems, automation layers, or orchestration engines—especially in environments like browsers or multi-surface clients
- Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, and comfort working across the stack (e.g., browser contexts, Node.js services, REST APIs, WebSockets)
- Ability to design for reliability, observability, and performance under real-world conditions
- Strong product sense—you care how your work shapes user experience
- Bonus: Experience with AI agent frameworks, LLM-powered automation, or designing tools that interface with language models
- Bonus: Familiarity with browser automation, extension platforms, or scripting web environments
