Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a Senior Scientific Support Specialist (Flavour and Fragrance) to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Scientific Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our customers in their Perfume R&D Laboratory works in flavour and fragrance formulation chemistry.
With your sound technical knowledge, you will ensure compliance with Standard Operation Procedures and good manufacturing practices. You will have the chance to collaborate with a team of exceptional professionals and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Completing and reviewing work assignments and adjusting workload and resources periodically with the team.
• Mentoring and cross-training staff with a standardized training program and documentation.
• Implementing required quality management systems to ensure customer work scope, results, and team performance meet approved SOPs and organization's safety and quality requirements.
• Participating in cost, quality, and efficiency improvement initiatives driven by the Team Lead.
• Coordinating and ensuring timely calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Maintaining good laboratory housekeeping with the team.
Additionally, your laboratory operations responsibilities will involve:
• Perfume compounding and material selection as per formulation.
• Updating compounding information in the Electronic Lab Notebook.
• Ensuring clean tools are used for weighing.
• Preparation for odor evaluations.
• Maintaining End-to-End (E2E) service of material management.
• Supporting the shipping of compounded materials with complete shipping documents.
• Operating and maintaining the Contexa robot.
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
• Diploma in Applied Chemistry/Perfumery and Cosmetic Sciences/Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant working experience in a chemistry laboratory environment (preferred).
• Knowledge of "good laboratory practices" quality guidelines and regulations (cGMP).
• Good interpersonal and coordination skills to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Independence, self-motivation, and adaptability in a multifaceted environment.
• Strong technical knowledge and hands-on demeanor with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Mechanical experience with laboratory robots and good computational skills (desirable).
