[What the role is]

As an Engineer, you may be deployed to one of PUB’s five Operations Departments or other departments based on organisational needs, to manage and develop Singapore’s water resources:
1. Catchment & Waterways
As part of the Catchment & Waterways (C&W) Department, you will be part of a team that plans, develops and manages our reservoirs and waterways for water supply and flood control, and integrate them with the surrounding environment in a sustainable manner.
2. Water Supply (Plants)
The Water Supply Plants (WSP) Department aims to provide an adequate and reliable supply of potable water at the most economical cost, and to operate and maintain Water Treatment Plants and Desalination Plants to produce safe drinking water to meet daily demands.
3. Water Supply (Network)
The Water Supply Network (WSN) Department plays a key role in delivering good water to businesses and end-users 24/7 – to ensure reliable and good quality supply to customers, and to manage and keep water demand low. This is done through various ways such as network optimisation, maintenance and renewal, as well as network planning and data management.
4. Water Reclamation (Plants)
The Water Reclamation Plants (WRP) Department is responsible for the treatment of all used water to a quality suitable for the production of NEWater or Industrial Water, and for safe discharge to the sea. Officers may be deployed to one of PUB’s Water Reclamation Plants in Jurong, Ulu Pandan, Kranji or Changi, or NEWater Factories in Bedok or Kranji.
5. Water Reclamation (Network)
The Water Reclamation Network (WRN) Department aims to collect and convey all used water for reclamation cost effectively and reliably. This is done through three key functions – Planning & Design of Sewerage Infrastructures; Network Operation and Maintenance; and Project management.

[What you will be working on]

Your responsibilities could involve the following areas:

•                  Oversee plant operations and activities to ensure the plants are able to operate at design capacity reliably, efficiently and in compliance with all stringent water quality requirements

•                  Ensure the used water network is adequate and available to serve the upcoming developments in Singapore

•                  Plan, design, implement and oversee transmission mains laying and other infrastructure projects and service reservoirs to enhance the water supply network to meet future water demands

•                  Manage reservoir operations and the maintenance contracts for the reservoirs, water storage infrastructures and stormwater collection facilities 

•                  Implement, procure, administer and manage drainage projects and related contracts to ensure timely, delivery of projects in accordance with contract, safety and budgetary requirements

•                  Attend to feedback from stakeholders and agencies and take necessary actions to resolve issues to ensure smooth implementation of projects.

During the course of the work, you may be required to work closely with departments, members of public, consultants, contractors and other public agencies.

[What we are looking for]

•             Degree in Civil / Environmental / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering

•             Able to work well independently and in teams

•             Good communication and interpersonal skills and possess a positive, can-do attitude

•             Proficient in IT, e.g. use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel spreadsheet, Powerpoint, etc.) and with data analytics tools such as Qlik Sense would be an advantage
