Co-Development Business Unit is hiring for Software Engineer

This is a fixed term contract role. The engagement is 1 year.

What will you do?

• Building and strengthening engineering capabilities for Ministry digital products
• We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting a high-visibility, citizen-facing digital product.

• You will solve business problems and translate architectural concepts into secure, reliable production systems across the full technology stack.
• You will build and maintain applications, APIs, integrations, cloud infrastructure and serverless workloads.
• You will support both modernisation initiatives and existing production systems within a government security and compliance environment.
• You will also help strengthen engineering practices and contribute to the long-term maintainability, reliability and sustainability of our digital products.

Architecture & Compliance

• Ability to translate business requirements and architectural concepts into secure, reliable and maintainable technical solutions.
• Experience implementing application security and compliance requirements in production environments.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit logging.
• Experience designing and implementing system integrations, APIs and event-driven solutions.
• Ability to evaluate technical options and explain architectural decisions, assumptions and trade-offs.
• From 3 - 5 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.

What are we looking for?

• Proficiency in modern frontend development using JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Experience designing and building modern, responsive, and accessible web applications.
• Working knowledge of RESTful API design, system integration patterns, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with relational database design, SQL development, performance tuning and optimisation.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform on AWS.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or equivalent platforms.
• Experience with AWS cloud services, including hands-on experience with EC2, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, or other serverless services.
• Familiarity with IIS, Apache, Nginx, or similar web server technologies.

• Experience with application monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and production support in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of OutSystems low-code platform and C#/.NET development would be advantageous

Application process and assessment

• To apply for the Full-Stack Software Engineer role, candidates must submit the completed technical assessment together with their application. Candidates are encouraged to complete the assessment within three calendar days.

• Design and develop a full-stack web application that consumes publicly available data from data.gov.sg.
• High-Level Requirements
• Retrieve and integrate data from any dataset of your choice available on data.gov.sg.
• Present the data through a clear and user-friendly interface.
• Provide appropriate capabilities for users to explore and interact with the data.
• Demonstrate sound frontend and backend application design.
• Provide Infrastructure as Code (IaC) that defines the AWS infrastructure required to deploy and operate the solution.
• Include appropriate automated testing and supporting technical documentation.
• Analyse the selected dataset and present meaningful summaries or insights derived from the data.
• Candidates are free to select the technology stack, application architecture, AWS services, and implementation approach.
• Deployment to AWS is not required; however, the application must run successfully in a local environment.
