Our Journey

ShopBack started as a spark of inspiration one night in 2014 when Henry and Joel were brainstorming ideas in Henry’s car. That lightbulb moment — earning Cashback while shopping online — was just the beginning. Fueled by the countless possibilities, the team locked themselves in a hotel room for 24 hours to code the very first prototype. Their mission? To revolutionize shopping by helping advertisers market more cost-effectively, while making every purchase more rewarding for shoppers.

Today, ShopBack is the leading shopping, rewards, and payments platform in Asia-Pacific, empowering 45 million shoppers across 12 markets. With 20,000+ partners and over half a million transactions daily, we’re redefining the way the world shops. As we expand globally, we’re looking for adventurous, driven individuals to help us build The World’s Most Rewarding Way to Shop.

ShopBack is seeking an experienced UX writer to lead content efforts in the design, development, adoption, and use of ShopBack’s suite of consumer and business products. As part of Product Design, you’ll work closely with our distributed team of designers, researchers, and product managers to craft simple, intuitive products that are a delight to use.

You’re someone who understands the value of words in design. You know how to say the same thing in many ways. Which words to use. How to arrange those words - sentences - paragraphs. When to show and when to tell. And you can sense how people might react to your choices.

You also know that words aren’t the only way to communicate, just as design isn’t all about making things look pretty. That great stuff happens when specialists in different fields work closely and share openly towards a common goal.

Your Adventure Ahead

  • Design and strategy
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, designers, and stakeholders to understand business objectives, needs, and constraints, while creating creative and thoughtful solutions.
  • Apply a user-focused UX writing and content strategy perspective to enhance product design and maintain consistency in style and presentation.
  • Conduct user research and use quantitative and qualitative data to find ways to improve customer experience through content.

  • UX writing craft and execution
  • Collaborate with or lead UX, research, product, engineering, brand, and commercial teams to ensure a unified customer journey.
  • Define content strategy, structure and lifecycle, and plan for operational sustainability (internal systems and workflows) as part of the design process.
  • Craft simple, useful, and engaging content for better user experience through clear information structure, meaningful copy, unambiguous terminology and concise language. This applies to interface content, product education materials, product names, terminology, and other content across ShopBack products.
  • Ensure content is global-friendly and device-compatible, maintaining brand (tone, voice, style) and design harmony.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing scope and timeline, and present solutions to key stakeholders.
  • Seek and integrate feedback from cross-functional stakeholders and teammates to drive alignment and optimise speed and impact.

  • Leadership
  • Mentor team members in content and design practices, sharing knowledge to boost team skills and promote continuous learning.
  • Advocate for high-quality content design and best practices, enhancing the organisation’s understanding of good vs great content design.
  • Develop and enforce content and writing guidelines across the organisation.
  • Recommend tools, practices, and workflows to scale design and content operations.

Essentials to Succeed

  • A strong work ethic, an open mind, attention to detail and consistency, and a very sharp eye for typos.
  • 6+ years of professional experience writing and designing content for web and mobile products.
  • Native-level spoken and written English competence, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to think logically, and to imagine copy and content as part of a system.
  • A data-informed approach to your work, and not being afraid to start again from scratch if needed.
  • Ability to present and defend content and design choices in the context of product strategy and user/cultural insights, via a persuasive, collaborative approach.
  • A solid track record of stakeholder management and engagement.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and ability to maintain a high standard of work while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in design, communications or a related field.
  • Extensive case studies of work across multiple platforms – please be sure to include a link to this in your CV.

Bonus points if you...

  • Have experience with writing and designing for global e-commerce products and knowledge of localisation processes.
