Job Description
Checkout.com is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to take ownership of our payroll operations across the APAC and MENAP regions. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll processing for these key regions. We're looking for someone with outstanding attention to detail who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced, and high-growth environment.
You will work closely with the Finance team, supporting all duties associated with accurate and timely payroll processing and assisting with payroll-related financial close tasks. This role also offers significant exposure to a global transformation project to consolidate our payroll providers, giving you a chance to shape a new, more efficient system at a global scale.
How you’ll make an impact
Manage end-to-end payroll: Take full ownership of monthly payroll processing for employees across all APAC and MENAP countries. This includes collating data, preparing payroll files, submitting reports to our external payroll providers by specific deadlines, managing payroll accounts for funding and salary disbursements.
Ensure accuracy: Review and verify payroll changes and outputs with providers to ensure 100% accuracy before final processing.
Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with the People Team, Finance, and other departments to ensure all payroll data is accurate, timely, and complete.
Maintain payroll data: Act as the primary owner for payroll-related data in the HRIS and payroll systems (Workday and Cloudpay experience is a plus), ensuring all employee information is kept up to date with complete accuracy.
Support key payroll cycles: Assist with year-end tasks, annual salary reviews, and the processing of bonuses and commissions.
Reconcile and report: Gather monthly payroll reports from providers, prepare employee data reports from the HRIS system, and provide them to the Finance department for financial close.
Provide employee support: Manage the Payroll Helpdesk email inbox, answering employee queries related to pay, tax, and pensions in a timely and professional manner.
Assist with financial tasks and audits: Help ensure that General Ledger postings accurately reflect monthly payroll and assist with balance sheet reconciliation queries. Provide audit support to Finance for payroll-related audit queries.
Drive process improvements: Actively identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and systems with a clear focus on automation and standardization.
Stay current: Proactively research and stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation, international accounting standards, and financial regulations to ensure compliance.
Support special projects: Assist with the implementation of our new global payroll provider, payroll setup in new expansion regions, and other ad-hoc projects related to pay and benefits.
What we’re looking for
Experience: You have at least 5 years of hands-on payroll experience, with a proven track record of managing end-to-end international payroll processes, specifically for the APAC and MENAP regions.
Detail-oriented: Your attention to detail is second to none, and you pride yourself on producing highly accurate work.
Problem-solver: You are proactive, organized, and have a strong sense of initiative. You enjoy working at pace and have a drive to improve processes and systems.
Ethical: You have a strong work ethic and can maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
Technical skills: You are comfortable working with HRIS systems; experience with Workday and Cloudpay systems is a significant advantage.
