Job Description

Zendesk is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Agent Workspace Messaging Team in Singapore. You'll help build a next-generation messaging platform that empowers customers to deliver exceptional user experiences, working toward an omni-channel customer engagement product.

You will work with a diverse team of skilled engineers developing a highly-responsive web application. You'll partner with product and UX teams to improve workflows and develop new features.

What you'll do
  • Build backend systems for our next-generation Messaging platform serving millions of users daily

  • Create modern experiences on our Agent Workspace product working full-stack

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Team Leads, and Designers in small teams using bi-weekly sprints

  • Contribute to technical design discussions and propose innovative solutions

  • Ensure platform scalability, performance, and security in collaboration with ops teams

  • Mentor junior team members through pairing sessions and code reviews

  • Participate in coding, pull request reviews, and testing

What you bring
  • Proven software engineering experience with strong capabilities in Java, Python, Ruby, or Go

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, Node.JS, and React

  • Strong understanding of web technologies and frontend-backend interactions

  • Experience building scalable, distributed systems (Kafka, GraphQL, gRPC experience a plus)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills using metrics, logs, and traces

  • Good command of data structures and algorithms

  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-first mindset

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
