Coinbase is seeking experienced backend engineers to build the next generation of trading products and features, solving large-scale, complex problems to deliver secure, low-latency, high-frequency applications on cloud infrastructure. As part of the International Trading team, you'll help bring Coinbase’s high-performance trading platform to global markets, working closely with the US team to enhance systems, drive adoption in international regions, and deliver features that support liquidity, execution, and strategic decision-making. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to ensure our trading infrastructure is optimized for speed, efficiency, and usability.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading a team to build new products to provide traders robust and familiar features to manage their portfolio.
- Design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
- Articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems and the teams running them.
- Work with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
- Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
What we look for in you:
- You must have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering, and 2 years working on trading systems.
- You’ve designed, built, scaled and maintained production services, and know how to compose a performant service oriented architecture.

- You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together.
Nice to haves:
- You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from startup to mid-size).
- You’ve worked with Golang, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
- Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
