Principal Responsibilities

The Product Specialist achieves sales targets and drives continuous growth by establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities with existing customers and identifying and securing new customers.

This role will require the candidate to mostly work in the hospital setting, prior experience of that would be advantageous. Specific responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:


1) Achieving business results (Sales, Market Share)

  • Develop, implement and maintain account management plans to drive growth strategies for key accounts as directed both locally and nationally

  • Create and Identify customer awareness, recommending product types and arranging and participating with product demonstrations

  • Negotiate sales agreements within organizational policy guidelines

  • Provide technical advice / product education to both customers and fellow colleagues

  • Business to business representation at key local events

  • Review and analyze business plans to monitor sales progress and identify opportunities across specific accounts and territories

  • Complete and submit all reports (sales, customer and expenses etc.) within the time requested by manager

2) Model accountability and commitment to our customers and our colleagues through teamwork:

  • Desire for continual learning in our product range, our competitor products and keeping abreast of current standards of care in the marketplace

  • Stay informed and keep the company informed of ConvaTec’s market position and other business Unit opportunities as they arise

  • Develops trust through ethical and consistent behavior

3) Execute sales and marketing strategies to achieve business results

  • Takes the broader business perspective into account when making decisions

4) Cultivates Strong Business Relationships

  • Establishes close relationships with HCPs and utilizes those relationships to strengthen a competitive position and performance

  • Establishes, develops and maintains ongoing relationships with HCPs and key opinion leaders

  • Open new channels and understand hospital workflow

  • Mentor and guide new colleague within the team

5) Other responsibilities as required

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will ideally be degree qualified with minimum 3 years working experience within the healthcare in wound ostomy sales environment with proven track record. They should be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills in the following the ideally the candidate will have:

  • Tertiary level qualifications

  • Prior sales experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical arena

  • Prior knowledge or exposure of selling medical equipment or device will be advantageous

  • Experience working with Orthopedics, Vascular Surgeons & nurses

  • Excellent sales skills and product knowledge

  • Strong Team player – motivator and mentor

  • Comprehensive business knowledge incl. Key Account Management

  • Understanding of User needs, and competitive

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Previous experience with sales tools including Customer Relationship Mgmt. programs (CRM’s)

  • Negotiation skills – contract/tender experience

  • Excellent communication skills – oral, written and presentation

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Knowledge of the Singapore healthcare market including developments and trends
