Job Responsibilities :This role drives the research & development activities in the mechanical engineering domain of advanced gaming peripheral products. The job responsibilities span across various critical areas which includes the following:Research & Development:
- Oversee all areas of mechanical R&D from concepts through to mass production.
- Lead the design of Mechanical Architecture for computer peripheral devices.
Tooling Release & Design for Manufacturability (DFM):
- Oversee the release of tooling for production.
- Creating 3D designs in CAD and 2D drawings according to the Razer standard.
- Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize product designs for ease of manufacturing.
Project Management:
- Oversee timelines, budgets, and resources that are related to mechanical engineering, such as product BOM cost, tooling cost, jig/fixture and NRE cost.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Vendor and Partner Coordination:
- Liaise and coordinate with vendors and contract manufacturers.
- Drive vendors and contract manufacturers towards adoption of systematic tools such as DOE, DFM, DFMEA, Geometric tolerance, FAI and FACA, to achieve high efficiency, quality and performance.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of development processes and technical documentation.
- Ensure clear communication of project status and technical details.
Quality Assurance & Testing:
- Define and implement rigorous testing procedures to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to meet product standards.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, production, and marketing.
- A Go-To-Person to troubleshoot mechanical design issue across projects.
Pre-Requisites
- Master/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency in CAD related software e.g. ProE, SolidWorks
- Experience in mechanical part and mechanism design for DFM and DFA, using both plastic and sheet metal parts, as well as in related secondary and cosmetic processes is an added advantage
- Experience in mold tooling is an added advantage
- Frequent travel is expected to China, Thailand and Vietnam
- Good communication and proficient in both English and Mandarin to communicate with counterparts at China
- Experience in fast paced consumer electronics development, particularly in designing following products will be an added advantage:
- Computer peripherals
- Smart lighting products
