Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

We are currently looking for a Senior Material Planner. As a Material Planner you will;
- Be responsible for review and analysis of Work Specifications, Drawings and Technical Manuals to develop material estimates for new and growth work for repairs on US Navy.
- Be responsible to solicit suppliers for price and availability information for materials where required.
- Be cognizant of materials that are Long Lead Time Material (LLTM) and identify as such as needed.
- Generate Pre-Proposal Inquiry (PPI), Request for Clarification (RFC) and Inspection/Deficiency Report (IDR), as required with regard to government furnished information, customer furnished information, and material problems and issues. Review and take appropriate action on all answered correspondence.
- Interface with trades as necessary to assure material estimates and requisitions contain the proper size, type, and quantity of material needed to support their particular production effort. Trade interface also required to field questions, identify issues and prevent/resolve problems to ensure a quality product.
- Review and ensure that all estimates are complete, accurate and submitted on schedule. Be cognizant of all schedules in order to ensure required need dates are promulgated to vendors.
- Interface with the Purchasing Dept. regarding cost and supplier information and provide Request for Quote (RFQ) information to the Buyers.
- Frequent contact with the Labor Estimators, Buyers, Ship Superintendents, Craft Supervisors and Craft Personnel. Frequent contact with outside material suppliers.
- Perform similar, incidental and other duties as assigned.
- Able to work independently with minimal immediate supervision.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in the repair of US Navy ships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be proficient in Excel, Word and Data entry skills.
- Experience using an MRP system a plus.
- Ability to read part numbers
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experienced in all phases of the repair and installation of US Navy
- Specific knowledge/experience on Major ShipAlts for the DDG Aegis Modernization (AMOD) via the Advanced Capability Build (ACB-12) and for the LPD Scullery Re-Design.
- Systems would include all facets of Hydraulic, Valve Overhaul, Cleanliness, Testing and Gasket/Fastener Replacement.
- Equipment and Components to include but not be limited to; pipe, fitting material types (bronze, steel, stainless steel, copper-nickel, & aluminum), flanges, sleeves, bushings, hoses, hose connections, valves, bellows, and condensers.
