Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications is responsible for strengthening SJ's reputation, elevating leadership visibility and driving strategic communications that support the Group's business objectives.

Reporting to the Director, Global Communications, this role serves as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders and leads initiatives across executive communications, media relations, thought leadership, corporate reputation, employee engagement and industry positioning.

The role also provides Group-level oversight of sponsorships, industry partnerships, conferences, speaking opportunities, awards and rankings, ensuring SJ maintains a coordinated and strategic presence across key stakeholders and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated corporate communications strategies that strengthen SJ's brand, reputation and market positioning.

  • Partner senior leaders on executive communications, leadership messaging, speeches, presentations and strategic announcements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media, proactively identifying opportunities to raise SJ's profile and showcase thought leadership.

  • Lead media engagement activities, including media enquiries, interviews, announcements and reputation management.

  • Drive thought leadership initiatives that position SJ and its leaders as trusted voices in the built environment sector.

  • Oversee SJ's participation in strategic industry events, sponsorships, partnerships and conferences, ensuring alignment with business and brand priorities.

  • Provide Group-wide oversight of awards, rankings and recognition programmes, identifying opportunities to strengthen SJ's market profile and industry standing.

  • Maintain a consolidated view of industry engagement activities across the Group, including partnerships, awards, conferences and speaking platforms.

  • Oversee corporate content across owned channels, including the corporate website, leadership profiles and key communications platforms.

  • Support internal communications and employee engagement initiatives, including leadership forums, town halls and major change communications.

  • Provide strategic communications counsel to business leaders and stakeholders across the Group.

  • Monitor emerging issues and reputational risks and recommend appropriate communications responses.

Requirements

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related discipline.

  • At least 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations or strategic communications.

  • Experience supporting senior executives and developing high-impact leadership communications.

  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills across multiple channels and audiences.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including experience working with senior leadership.

  • Track record in media relations and engagement with journalists and industry stakeholders.

  • Experience managing complex projects across multiple markets and stakeholder groups.

  • Experience in a multinational, consulting, professional services or built environment organisation is advantageous.
