Job Responsibilities
Kubernetes & Container Platform Leadership:
Architect, deploy, and maintain enterprise-scale Kubernetes clusters with 99.9%+ uptime in mission-critical production environments
Lead containerization initiatives using Docker and advanced container orchestration strategies
Design and optimize sophisticated CI/CD pipelines with multi-environment deployment strategies and zero-downtime releases
Drive Kubernetes best practices across development teams and establish container governance standards
Advanced Infrastructure & Service Management:
Implement and manage service mesh architectures (Istio/Linkerd) for comprehensive microservices governance and observability
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex Kubernetes cluster troubleshooting and containerized application issues
Develop and enforce robust cluster security policies, RBAC configurations, and container security scanning protocols
Execute cost optimization strategies for Kubernetes workloads and container resource allocation
Technology Innovation & Platform Evolution:
Stay at the forefront of cloud-native technologies including Service Mesh, Serverless computing, and emerging Kubernetes ecosystem tools
Evaluate and implement cutting-edge containerization technologies to enhance platform capabilities
Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new Kubernetes features and container runtime technologies
Requirements
Core Kubernetes & Docker Expertise (Non-Negotiable):
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes production experience with demonstrated expertise in cluster architecture, networking, and storage
Expert-level Docker containerization skills including multi-stage builds, image optimization, and container security hardening
Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals: etcd, kube-apiserver, scheduler, controller-manager, and kubelet operations
Production-grade experience managing Kubernetes clusters serving high-traffic applications with complex workload requirements
Technical Foundation:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Minimum 4+ years in cloud-native/containerization environments with progressive responsibility
Advanced proficiency in Go (Golang) for Kubernetes operator development and custom resource creation
Strong scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, and YAML for automation and infrastructure as code
Kubernetes Ecosystem Mastery:
Extensive experience with Kubernetes-native monitoring and observability stack: Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Tempo, Loki
Proven expertise in service mesh technologies (Istio preferred) for traffic management and security policies
Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes networking: CNI plugins, ingress controllers, network policies, and service discovery
Experience with Kubernetes storage solutions: persistent volumes, storage classes, and stateful application management
Enterprise Container Operations:
Demonstrated success in containerizing and orchestrating complex applications: MySQL clusters, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and distributed systems
Expertise in DevOps methodologies including GitOps, infrastructure as code (Terraform/Helm), and automated testing pipelines
Hands-on experience with major cloud Kubernetes services: EKS (AWS), AKS (Azure), GKE (Google Cloud)
Exceptional troubleshooting skills for performance optimization, resource tuning, and incident response
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Certifications & Expertise:
Kubernetes certifications strongly preferred: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)
Cloud platform certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
Service Mesh expertise: Production experience with Istio, Linkerd, or Consul Connect
Serverless container experience: Knative, AWS Fargate, or Azure Container Instances
Leadership & Scale Experience:
Experience managing large-scale Kubernetes clusters (500+ nodes, 1000+ pods)
Track record of leading container migration projects from legacy infrastructure
Open source contributions to Kubernetes ecosystem projects or CNCF initiatives
Experience mentoring teams on Kubernetes adoption and container best practices
Specialized Skills:
Multi-cluster management and federation experience
Advanced Kubernetes security implementations including Pod Security Standards and admission controllers
Experience with emerging technologies: WebAssembly (WASM) containers, confidential computing, or edge Kubernetes deployments
