We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Modeler to lead data platform initiatives across enterprise financial services clients. You will architect and govern large-scale data solutions using cloud platforms (Cloudera, Teradata, Snowflake, Databricks), design complex banking data models aligned to industry standards (FSLDM, FIBO, BIAN), mentor a team of engineers, and drive adoption of modern data engineering practices. This role bridges technical leadership and client advisory — you’ll own data strategy for major accounts and be accountable for delivery and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead banking data model design — design enterprise data models using FSLDM (Financial Services Logical Data Model), FIBO (Financial Industry Business Ontology), and BIAN (Banking Industry Architecture Network) standards; translate complex financial business concepts into normalized/dimensional schemas
  • Architect data platforms — design enterprise data lakes, warehouse schemas, and ETL frameworks for mission-critical banking and financial systems
  • Manage technical teams — mentor 3–5 data engineers and modelers; drive code reviews, design decisions, and capability building
  • Govern data quality & security — design metadata management, data lineage, and governance frameworks for regulated financial environments
  • Own client relationships — advise on data modernization strategies, translate business requirements into technical roadmaps aligned with banking standards
  • Optimize platform operations — monitor costs, performance, and security across cloud platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Cloudera, Teradata)
  • Drive innovation — evaluate new tools, establish best practices, share knowledge across teams

Required Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • Banking Data Modeling — experience with FSLDM, FIBO, and/or BIAN frameworks; ability to design data models for banking use cases (payments, lending, deposits, risk, compliance)
    • Data Modeling for complex schemas (dimensional, normalized, data vault)
    • Cloudera OR Teradata — deep operational and architectural knowledge
    • Snowflake OR Databricks — production deployment, tuning, governance
  • 8+ years in data engineering/data modeling, with 3+ years in a leadership/architect role in financial services
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring teams
  • Banking or highly regulated financial data environment experience — deep familiarity with compliance (AML/KYC), regulatory reporting, data lineage, audit trails
  • Strong communication skills — comfortable presenting to C-suite, business stakeholders, and technical teams
Recommended Skills
  • Hands-on expertise with both FSLDM/FIBO AND BIAN standards in production environments
  • Experience with both Cloudera/Teradata AND Snowflake/Databricks
  • Advanced data governance — Collibra, Alation, or custom metadata frameworks
  • Data modeling tools — Erwin, PowerDesigner, or cloud-native modeling tools
  • Banking domain knowledge: PSD2, GDPR, Basel III, BCBS 239 data requirements
  • Hands-on work with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Iceberg
  • Cloud cost optimization and FinOps
What We’re Looking For
  • Strategic thinker — sees beyond individual projects to platform-wide implications and banking standards alignment
  • Banking domain expert — understands financial products, processes, and regulatory requirements
  • Mentor & leader — enjoys developing talent and setting technical direction
  • Problem solver — navigates ambiguity in complex financial data environments
  • Standards advocate — champions FSLDM/FIBO/BIAN adoption; helps teams understand “why” behind the model
