We are a premier English-language media brand based in Hong Kong, delivering high-quality news, insights, and premium content to a discerning global audience. As we expand our footprint across Southeast Asia, we are looking for a highly strategic, well-connected Senior Business Development Manager to drive our sponsorship and subscription revenue growth in the region.

Purpose of the Position:

As the Senior Business Development Manager for SEA, you will be the primary engine driving our market entry and expansion. You will be responsible for building C-level relationships and securing high-value contracts for corporate subscriptions, executive memberships, event sponsorships, and strategic partnerships across ASEAN.

This role requires a "hunter" mindset, capable of navigating complex corporate structures, influencing senior management, and rapidly accelerating our brand presence through both direct sales and strategic alliances.

In this role, you will:
  • Corporate Subscription Growth: Drive revenue by identifying and securing SCMP Plus corporate subscription packages for large and mid-size corporations, government agencies and educational institutions.
  • C-Suite Membership Sales: Identify and recruit high-profile regional CEOs to join the SCMP C-Suite CEO community.
  • Sponsorship Procurement: Lead the identification and pitching of high-value sponsorship opportunities for Enterprise+ events and C-Suite roundtables.
  • Strategic Relationship Management: Cultivate a portfolio of direct C-level client relationships, positioning SCMP as a trusted intelligence partner for regional leaders.
  • Strategic Partnerships:  Identify and build strategic alliances that allow for rapid market entry and client acquisition (e.g., industry associations, premium event partners, business councils).
  • Consultative Sales Cycle: Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and market mapping to crafting tailored commercial proposals and negotiating multi-deliverable contracts.
  • Market Intelligence:  Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client feedback to provide actionable insights to HK management for product strategy development.
  • Reporting & Strategy: Maintain a strong sales pipeline via our CRM (Salesforce) and prepare regular performance forecasts for senior management.

Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
  • Experience: Minimum 6–8 years of experience in consultative sales, media, or business development, with a proven track record in the SEA market.
  • Network: Existing high-level relationships with senior corporate decision-makers, and CEOs, across Singapore and Southeast Asia.
  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and "0 to 1" market entry strategies for intelligence-led products.
  • Consultative Skills: Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex value propositions to C-level stakeholders.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with professional business intelligence tools and the premium English-language media landscape in Asia.
  • Skills:  Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills in English. Ability to work autonomously and manage a full sales pipeline.

Work location will be at Singapore office.
