WeWork is looking for a highly motivated new member for its APAC Legal team based in its Singapore HQ office. In this role, you will act as a key business stakeholder for the South East Asia and Australia territories, overseeing and supporting the Legal function in all facets of its work from transactions, corporate governance to special projects. Focusing primarily on driving business needs in South East Asia, and secondarily in Australia, this role will report into and work under the oversight of the Head of Legal - SEA and South Korea, and will work closely with the rest of the APAC Legal team.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a legal point of contact for all countries that WeWork operates in across South East Asia.

  • Work with internal and external parties in the drafting, negotiating, and processing of a broad range of contracts, amendments, powers of attorney, corporate resolutions and other legal documents.

  • Support the regional implementation across South East Asia of new products, global policies, and regulations initiated by the Company. 

  • Provide support relating to KYC (Know Your Customer), and compliance related requests.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of forms, playbooks and processes

  • Collaborate with cross-functional working groups and specialist legal functions (such as Corporate Secretarial, Compliance, Litigation, and Real Estate) on special projects.

  • Guide business stakeholders across the organization on legal escalations including responding to inquiries with respect to general legal guidelines, processes and playbooks, policies and contracts.

  • Support business stakeholders with document signature approvals and processes.

  • Support the delivery of Legal training across South East Asia, including through the preparation of training resources.

  • Ad hoc administrative support and maintenance of our contract management system.
     

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 4 years experience as a paralegal, contract manager, legal assistant or in a role with transferable experience

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high pressure, entrepreneurial environment to meet deadlines and engaging on new issues and challenges in a competitive and growing industry

  • Excellent drafting, proofreading, organization, analytical and communications skills with strong attention to detail

  • A team player who is willing to take the initiative and be independent, responsible, accountable, and results-oriented for assigned tasks and responsibilities

  • Highly motivated and excited to learn new skills and build relationships across a broad set of stakeholders, both within the APAC region and globally

  • Proficiency in G Suite (or Microsoft Office Suite); adaptable to new technologies, including use of AI

  • Strong academic background (law degree or diploma preferred)

  • Preference (but not prerequisite) for written proficiency in a second South-East Asian language due to the need to support clients and manage contracts in those languages
