The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CoHASS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is seeking a forward-thinking and experienced communications professional to lead its newly established College Communications team. As the Senior Assistant Director, Communications, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing integrated communications plans that align with NTU’s institutional goals and enhance the College’s visibility and engagement with stakeholders across its schools and research centres.

This is an exciting opportunity to build a new function that will drive coherence, storytelling, and stakeholder alignment in a matrix academic environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a College-wide communications strategy, branding, and messaging framework that reflects CoHASS’s academic mission and evolving priorities.

  • Drive alignment and coherence across school and centre communications teams through collaborative platforms, joint initiatives, and stakeholder engagement mechanisms.

  • Develop and oversee campaigns that highlight emerging cross-college research themes, interdisciplinary initiatives, and newly established research centres to strengthen CoHASS’s positioning as a thought leader.

  • Lead international communications efforts to build partnerships with global universities and academic networks, with the goal of improving CoHASS’s visibility and contributing to NTU’s standing in global reputation rankings (e.g., QS).

  • Oversee the production of high-impact content that highlights CoHASS’s research, academic strengths, events, and societal contributions.

  • Provide strategic advice to the Dean’s Office on media engagement, reputational matters, and institutional positioning, including responses during sensitive issues or crises.

  • Establish editorial and visual standards for College publications, digital platforms, and campaigns to ensure consistency and brand integrity.

  • Manage vendor relationships and communications budgets to deliver cost-effective, high-quality creative, media, and digital services.

  • Monitor communications performance through analytics and reporting, applying data-driven insights to inform strategy and continuous improvement.

  • Lead and mentor the College Communications team to foster capability development and a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in higher education, government, or public sector.

  • Strong track record in strategic communications, campaign development, and stakeholder management.

  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and editorial judgement for diverse internal and external audiences.

  • Proven ability to lead through influence and collaboration, particularly in dynamic, matrixed environments.

  • Experience in media relations, digital communications and brand management.

  • Experience in managing vendors, projects, and communications-related budgets.

  • Professional presence, sound judgment, and the ability to balance strategic vision with operational demands.

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
