Job Profile Summary
The role will involve assisting the Regional Finance Director in most aspects of the Finance department’s work, with the main focus of the role being the preparation of quarterly Syndicate & Service Company accounts with commentary, regular reconciliation and analysis of key account balances, overseeing the preparation of tax returns and statutory accounts, assisting with the implementation of Finance Transformation projects, plus general internal reporting and other ad hoc project work.
Job Description
- Maintain both Syndicate and Service Company (“SC”) accounts including accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and yearly closing of accounts.
- Review of quarterly SC’s reporting (reconciliation pack) to Head Office.
- Preparation of quarterly Syndicate reconciliation pack.
- Review of annual financial statements for SC prepared by Accountant.
- Review of Concur payments (staff claim and office expenses) and manual payments via Treasury Payment request forms.
- Ensure MAS Returns (Quarterly and Annually) are prepared and submitted accurately and on time to Lloyd’s Asia and MAS. MAS Reporting includes:
- Preparation:
- G1 working file.
- Upload Lloyd’s Asia Return (“LAR”) to MAS return.
- Common upload issue resolution.
- Negative balance comments.
- Annexes working files (Annual).
- Aged debt annex working file (Annual).
- Note 5 working file (Annual).
- G1 Additional Reporting - Section A & B (Annual).
- Review:
- Review A1, A2, A3 and I&E forms.
- A1 Investment breakdown working file.
- Preparation:
- Preparation of other business statistical surveys i.e. investment statistics, international trade in services survey, annual survey etc.
- Review Service Company’s quarterly GST Return for accuracy and timely submission.
- Preparation of Syndicate GST Returns.
- ACRA filing – Review XBRL prepared by Accountant.
- Review and posting of Claim Bordereaux received from third parties.
- Perform RIP matching (settled via Loss Fund and direct payment), and ensure update to LPSO of Policy Admin System (Charisma).
- Liaise with appointed tax agent on corporate tax issues and ensure all annual tax returns are completed and filed on time.
- Prepare Lloyd’s of London’s Syndicate tax returns and questionnaire for Head of Tax’s approval.
- Maintain awareness of key accounting and regulatory requirements issued by the regulatory bodies/Lloyd’s Asia.
- Liaise with internal & external auditors on audit field work.
- Liaise with banks and external clients on Finance Operations issues.
- Work with Head Office on any key issues regarding accounting, tax and regulatory requirements..
- Assist in implementing changes to reporting and/or underlying systems.
- Assist in delivery/implementation of various Finance Transformation projects (for example, delivery of Clearwater/Kyriba automation of Investment/Cash postings, or eventual automation of accounts engine).
- Back up for Accountant’s role when required.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Regional Finance Director.
Skills and Competencies
- Relevant experience in an Accounts environment, ideally progressing toward a similar role, with exposure to finance operations, account closures, regulatory returns, and preparation of financial statements.
- Proven experience within the Insurance market.
- Background in preparing documentation and liaising with internal and external auditors.
- Preferably, experience in delivering Finance Transformation projects.
- Able to interpret financial information
- Good reporting skills
- Presentation skills in reporting management information
- Experience in MAS returns, GST return.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft 9.2
- Results-driven, able to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrates accountability and ownership of assigned work.
- Flexible with a proactive, “can-do” attitude and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, solving problems effectively.
- Highly organized with a strong focus on quality and accuracy of outputs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.
- Time management skills, able to anticipate challenges, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.
Education
- Preferably ACCA/CPA Qualified
