Focus of the Role

As a Senior Satellite Business Development Manager, you play a critical role in creating new business opportunities for Telstra through delivering creative and market defining sales solutions for target customers. You are hyper aware of current and emerging market trends in Satellite and what they mean for your client’s business. Your ability to infuse Telstra’s products and services into tailored, new solutions that anticipate the needs of our client’s sees you contribute to the growth of Telstra’s business and to forge strong relationships within the market.

Your collaborative and customer-centric mindset means the sales solutions you design are integrated and balanced, delivering value to our business and our customers. You use your exceptional relationship building and negotiation skills to successful close complex, multi-domain sales that directly shape Telstra’s growth.

What You’ll Do

Telstra Infraco - International Sales & Service provides sales and service support to Telstra's international customers.

As a Senior Satellite Business Development Specialist, you apply your excellent relationship management skills, ability to identify growth opportunities and intimate understanding of the client’s business to deliver against the following responsibilities:

  • Actively identify, develop and qualify new business opportunities with new and existing customers, leveraging your strong interpersonal skills to liaise with the acquisition, account management and sales teams to define and execute commercial growth strategies for your portfolio.
  • Lead the establishment, maintenance and execution of portfolio pursuit plans, ensuring they align to Telstra’s broader business plan, and integrate products, solutions and service offerings in order to achieve the sales strategy.
  • Authentically engage with and effectively influence a diverse, multi-stakeholder client (including executives e.g. CIO, CTO) and internal landscape (i.e. solution sales, opportunity owners, Account Executives) to build an in-depth understanding of customer needs in order to identify solution requirements, anticipate future needs and foster relationship building.
  • Leverage your extensive knowledge of new and emerging enterprise technology solutions, Telstra’s products and solutions, intimate knowledge of the customer’s business, industry and their current portfolio to broaden the scope of opportunities and deliver sales revenue growth.
  • Take an innovative and creative approach to addressing current and future customer needs through combining several existing Telstra products/services and partner products/services in developing sales solutions and supporting new collaborative business models with customers.
  • Gather relevant sources of information and insights to build an in-depth understanding of new business opportunities, including actively following local and international industry trends to pre-empt opportunities as well as potential risks, issues and challenges to drive business growth for Telstra.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Aligning Business Development activities with the Satellite business plan. Finding and developing new customers in the Satellite segments.
  • Identify requirements and define solutions that fulfil the needs of and are valued by Telstra’s Satellite customers. Support the development of new products, services and solutions by combining several existing products/services, and developing the wholesale customers and their end customers. By generating sales leads for new Telstra products, services and solutions. Embedding Telstra products into the customers offers to the market.
  • Assess potential partners, perform competitive research and evaluate proposed deals/partnerships and analyse and develop business cases for new business targets.
  • Identify opportunities for business improvement and strategic new business opportunities.  Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, interacting with a diverse set of partners and prospective partners.
  • Sell all pre-defined offers without specialist assistance. 
  • As directed by the Head of Satellite, establish, maintain and execute Blue sheet opportunities Draft and negotiate contracts.

Deliverables:

  • Build a pipeline of new business opportunity within the Satellite marketplace
  • To develop new relationships with Satellite providers in region.
  • To develop an account development plans for Key customers.
  • Work with Bid team for key customer bids

About You

To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:

  • English language skills
  • Tertiary Degree
  • Extensive experience in technology related sales or business development experience-with some in the Satellite telecommunications industry
  • Customer obsessed
  • General knowledge of the IT industry, with the capacity to learn and retain knowledge about individual systems, processes, products and services quickly and accurately
  • Works well in a diverse team and enjoys a dynamic and changing environment
  • Achievement and success-driven personality, motivated by performance rewards for exceeding annual sales goals
