About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Section Head, Financial Accounting, Corporate & Regulatory Reporting to lead the financial accounting, regulatory reporting, and tax reporting functions for RHB Singapore. This role is responsible for overseeing Head Office reporting, regulatory submissions, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and financial control governance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining robust financial reporting processes, and supporting the organization through evolving regulatory developments while leading a high-performing team.
What you will be doing
- Lead and oversee all Head Office reporting, regulatory reporting, statutory reporting, and tax submissions for RHB Singapore Branch and its subsidiaries.
- Review and ensure timely, accurate submission of reports and returns to regulatory and statutory bodies.
- Review, implement, and enhance financial accounting and control policies in accordance with applicable GAAP/FRS requirements.
- Monitor developments within the regulatory landscape and provide guidance to management on reporting implications and requirements.
- Oversee the preparation and review of statutory financial statements and tax computations.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, including MAS, as well as external auditors, tax agents, and internal audit teams.
- Collaborate with Risk Management and other stakeholders to assess, implement, and respond to regulatory changes and consultation papers.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, advising business units on regulatory implications and reporting requirements.
- Ensure submission of high-quality statutory and regulatory reports, supported by clear analysis and commentary.
- Drive continuous improvement and regularly review reporting processes to mitigate operational risks and address audit findings.
- Maintain and update policy documents to ensure alignment with current regulatory and market requirements.
- Promote accountability, responsiveness, and a strong sense of urgency within the team.
- Work closely with various departments to embed regulatory compliance into daily operations and business processes.
- Develop and nurture a high-performance culture within the finance regulatory reporting team through coaching, training, and talent development initiatives.
What we're looking for
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline. Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) will be an advantage.
- Extensive experience in financial accounting, regulatory reporting, statutory reporting, or finance control within the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore regulatory reporting requirements, MAS regulations, GAAP/FRS, and tax reporting obligations.
- Proven experience managing regulatory submissions and engaging with regulators, auditors, and tax authorities.
- Strong understanding of operational risk, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead teams effectively, manage competing priorities, and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Proactive, results-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
