ABOUT THE ROLE
Compal is a leading innovator dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and delivering advanced solutions to our clients. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sales Engineer to drive growth and expand our market presence in the automotive sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting automotive electronic products and solutions for OEM and Tier 1 customers. Sales Engineers combine technical knowledge and business acumen to build customer relationships, identify business opportunities, and drive successful project wins.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the automotive market, including OEMs, suppliers, distributors, and other key stakeholders
- Manage RFQ/RFI processes, prepare proposals, and handle quotations
- Collaborate with global technical teams to create optimized solutions
- Support new project launches, pricing negotiations, and contract finalization
- Follow up on customer issues related to mass production, quality, and delivery
- Gather and report market trends and competitive intelligence
- Represent the company at trade shows, technical fairs, and customer events
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of B2B sales, sales engineer or customer management experience, preferably in the automotive or electronics industry
- Strong understanding of the automotive market, trends, challenges, and technologies
- Proven ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, and close deals effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese, with the ability to present complex information clearly and confidently to clients and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify client needs and deliver innovative solutions
- Willingness to travel as required to meet clients, attend industry events, and explore new business opportunities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and proactive in seeking new business opportunities
- Strong team player who can collaborate effectively across multiple departments globally
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Familiarity with thermal infrared systems and algorithms are a plus
