About Disney Cruise Line

Since launching in 1998, Disney Cruise Line has established itself as a leader in the cruise industry, providing a setting where families can reconnect, adults can recharge and children can experience all Disney has to offer. Today, the award-winning Disney Cruise Line continues to expand its blueprint for family cruising with a fleet of six ships — the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, and Disney Treasure — and seven more ships on the way, including the expanded relationship with Oriental Land Company Ltd. to bring Disney cruise vacations to Japan, by 2031. The Disney Cruise Line fleet sails to destinations in The Bahamas, the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, the South Pacific, and Australia and New Zealand. The Disney Adventure officially set sail on its maiden voyage from Singapore on March 10, 2026, marking the first Disney Cruise Line ship to homeport in Asia.

About the Role

This Safety Compliance Manager role is responsible for supporting the Safety Compliance program at Disney Cruise Line (DCL) by assisting the DPA in maintaining compliance with the Disney Cruise Line® Safety Management System, Disney Corporate Safety Standards (as applicable), as well as all relevant international, national, flag state, and local regulations. The role will consistently seek opportunities to enhance technical and operational safety performance.

This role will promote a robust safety culture through positive and proactive collaboration across all operational departments, focusing on the identification, assessment, analysis, and resolution of a wide range of shipboard safety matters throughout the Disney Cruise Line fleet, with particular emphasis on Disney Adventure.

Key areas of expertise include Technical Operational Management and the Disney Tired Auditing Program. This Singapore-based position is structured to provide close support specifically to the Disney Adventure.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting SMS/ISM audits, leading investigations, effectively partnering with team members, and maintaining reliable business relationships at all organizational levels, including with shore Cast and shipboard Crew.

  • Developing and administering Tiered Audit Programs for DCL across multiple departments, ensuring their integration within Disney’s broader audit structure.

  • Liaison with Port State authorities as needed to forge strong partnerships and to monitor, address, and resolve any Port State deficiencies, including those related to ISM, ISPS, and MLC. Critical listening skills are essential during the development and implementation of SMS audits to evaluate performance against applicable standards.

  • Collaborate with Marine and Technical Operations to review action plans addressing outstanding Condition of Class issues, audit non-conformities, observations, and Continuous Improvement Reports (CIRs), ensuring all items are resolved through leadership intervention and corrective action.

  • Responsible for continuous improvement of Safety Management System content — encompassing safety, marine, and technical materials — through effective risk assessments in cooperation with Marine and Technical Operations. Comprehensive knowledge of maritime regulations must be maintained or acquired.

  • Leading investigations on Disney Adventure as requested by leadership and supporting other investigations when required. This may include participation in privileged and confidential legal incident investigations and related reporting.

  • Collaboration with newbuild and dry dock project teams on compliance matters is expected. The ability to handle confidential information with discretion is essential.

As an ISM Code Auditor, responsibilities include entering completed audit reports into DCLIMS, tracking action items, and assessing the effectiveness of corrective and preventive measures through to closure. The position works closely with operational partners to ensure timely completion of these actions.

  • Serve as the Deputy DPA for Disney Adventure and report directly to the Disney Cruise Line DPA.

  • Utilize technical expertise to develop recommendations for safety improvements in collaboration with technical operations.

  • Assist in preparing safety messaging and Safety Alerts as directed.

  • Work with department Occupational Safety representatives to review and investigate incidents or concerns aboard Disney Adventure.

  • Actively represent Disney Adventure on Ship and Shore Safety Committees.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations on safety-related topics to the Disney safety community.

  • Participate in Safety and Environmental Shore Committee meetings.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience in marine safety and compliance, cruise safety and compliance

  • Technical education with substantial cruise safety experience.

  • Demonstrated strength in strategic listening, prioritization, and task initiation.

  • Effective communicator with experience presenting at all organizational levels, including audit documentation.

  • Strong understanding of complex marine and technical systems.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain productive professional relationships.

  • Willingness and ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced teamwork and collaboration skills, including conflict resolution and de-escalation proficiency.

  • ISM Code Lead Auditor certification or completion of an accredited ISO 9001 lead auditor training course.

  • In-depth knowledge of Classification Society Rules, ISM, SOLAS, MLC, ISPS, MARPOL, STCW, ILO, IGF Code, flag requirements, and Port State Control regulations.
