Get to Know the Team
GrabInsure is part of Grab Financial Group, which includes GrabPay, GrabFinance, and Digital Banking businesses. GrabInsure’s mission is to design innovative insurance that enables millions of people in Southeast Asia to protect themselves and their families against life’s uncertainties. We have already launched several “first-of-their-kind” products including micro-health and Usage Based Auto Insurance.
As of 2025, GrabInsure has evolved from a distribution-focused insurtech to a full stack insurtech, obtaining its first insurance license in Singapore. The mission of the team remains the same - to create insurance solutions to protect our customers from life’s uncertainties.
Get to Know the Role
Reporting to the Head of GrabInsure and the Audit Committee, you will lead the set-up and ongoing activities of the Risk Management function for the new insurer. You will be based onsite at our Grab One North office, and you will start off as an individual contributor.
As one of the leaders of a fast-growing business line, you will take ownership of main responsibilities, and be involved in hands-on work.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Develop, implement, and enhance the ERM framework, including risk identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, and handling management processes.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, Risk Management Committee (RMC), and Senior Management to integrate risk management into strategic planning processes for decision making.
- Lead the Risk Management function in providing regular risk assessments, identifying new risks, and advising on risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the implementation of risk management policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring they are understood and observed by all departments.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and the Grab Group's ERM framework.
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects and tasks, such as strategic reviews, business analysis, and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in risk management or risk related role
- Experience implementing and managing ERM frameworks in a complex and regulated environment
- Familiarity with IFRS17 / insurance accounting standards and insurance capital standards. Insurance reporting or actuarial experience is required
- Strong analytical skills to problem solve, and develop risk management strategies and solutions.
- Skills in building and maintaining relationships, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as actuarial science, finance, economics, or risk management; advanced degree or further qualifications such as an actuarial fellowship or FRM or CERA
