Research Scientist (Satellite Communications)
At Temasek Laboratories@NTU, our mission is to undertake cutting-edge research in defence science and technology, driving new solutions and advancements across various research areas, including Microsystems Technology, Hardware Assurance, Signal Processing, Advanced Materials, Advanced Laser Technology, and Emerging Technologies.
We take immense pride in our people, recognizing them as our greatest asset. Committed to nurturing professional development, we support personal aspirations and growth. Furthermore, we advocate for a healthy work-life balance, fostering yearly engagement and team bonding activities.
We invite you to join our Centre for Communications and Signal Processing as a Research Scientist.
This centre focus on developing advanced communications and signal processing capabilities for the Singapore defense community. The four key research areas are sensor array, signal processing systems, urban sensing and signal research.
We are looking for a Research Scientist with a strong foundation in all aspects of Satellite communications. The researcher is expected to contribute towards addressing the detection, classification and localization of satellite communication terminal.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will be expected to conduct research in passive detection, classification and geolocation of specifically the localization of unknown ground terminals from LEO NTN signals in harsh environments.
The candidate will be responsible for both theoretical development and experimental design to validate the developed methods against real data.
Supervise interns and students; review state-of-the-art literature; plan and execute R&D activities to meet project objectives and deadlines; generate and publish novel scientific contributions and support research proposals.
Administrative duties may include safety management, asset management, and other assigned responsibilities.
Job Requirements:
PhD in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Communications, or a related field.
Strong background in statistical signal processing, estimation theory, detection and classification, waveform-based geolocation, and machine learning/deep learning, with demonstrated research experience in passive localization and tracking using signals of opportunity from LEO NTN systems such as Starlink, Iridium, or similar satellite constellations.
Proficiency with SDR platforms, particularly Ettus USRP devices and GNU Radio / UHD programming.
Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB; C++ is an advantage.
Proficiency in satellite communications systems, NTN architectures, satellite ephemeris correction methods, and orbital simulation tools (STK, GMAT, Orekit, or equivalent) is desirable.
Strong publication record commensurate with career stage.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
