Brief Job Summary
Position: Intern in UOB Global Economics & Markets Research
Location: Singapore
Duration: 10 weeks
Reports to: Head of Research
Join the Global Economics & Markets Research team at UOB, where our research and analysis directly informs the bank's macro-economic outlook, strategic decisions, and client advisory. As an intern, you will move beyond theory to produce actionable insights on macro-economic outlook, trends, and risks. You will support senior economists in research that helps our corporate, commercial, and institutional banking clients navigate the economic landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Thematic & Regional Research: Assist in producing reports on key economic themes (such as inflation, interest rates, trade dynamics) and deep dives into specific regions or economies where the bank has significant exposure.
- Develop Client-Facing Presentation Materials: Help prepare charts, dashboards, and concise summaries for regular market commentaries, outlooks, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Data Analysis & Modelling: Learn to collate, clean, and analyze macro-economic and financial data, and assist in maintaining and updating econometric models used for forecasting, or stress testing.
- Monitor Regulatory & Policy Impact: Track central bank policies and key financial regulations, analyzing their potential impact on the macro-economy and market sentiment.
What UOB Looks For
- Undergraduate pursuing Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
- Strong academic performance
- Good communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Keen interest in macro-economic, banking and analyzing data
- Familiarity with financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, Haver Analytics) will be an advantage
