BeeX is seeking an experienced and innovative Robotics Autonomy Software Engineer to join our fast-growing deep-tech startup.
WHY JOIN US?
We're pioneering the world's most advanced Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (HAUVs) and Autonomous Robotics-as-a-Service (ARaaS) to safeguard critical underwater infrastructure in the maritime, energy, and defense sectors while drastically reducing carbon emissions. The industries we serve needs new ways to overcome their current challenges, and BeeX is delivering exactly that.
Creating anything new is very hard. To achieve this, we need outstanding people. At BeeX, everyone is united by enthusiasm for bold innovation. Our multi-disciplinary team thrives in dynamic environments, driving transformative advancements globally.
What you can achieve at BeeX depends on what your goals are. By joining our fast-growing startup, you will be exposed to different aspects of Deeptech, from design to commercialisation. Join us to make a meaningful impact on the world!
If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are excited about using cutting-edge robotics to make a meaningful global impact, we want to hear from you.
Your Role
You will play a key role in advancing the autonomy and data intelligence of underwater robotic systems for the inspection of submerged infrastructure. Working closely with stakeholders — and in collaboration with BeeX’s field-proven AUV platforms — you will design, test, and validate algorithms that enhance situational awareness, reliability, and automation of underwater missions.
Your Job Scope
· Design and implement algorithms for structural anomaly detection from sensor data (e.g. camera, forward looking sonar, multi-beam sonar, etc.).
· Conduct simulation and field trials, including data collection, processing, and analysis.
· Work with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate algorithms into operational AUV platforms.
· Prepare technical documentation, research publications, and project deliverables.
Desired Qualities
· Technical Competencies:
o PhD (or near completion) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
o Candidates without PhD but with strong technical competency and relevant experience will also be considered for this role
o Strong foundation in autonomous systems, robotic perception and 3D computer vision
o Proficiency in Python/C++ and ROS (Robot Operating System)
o Experience in machine learning and signal processing for anomaly detection.
o Familiarity with 3D reconstruction and point cloud processing
o Understanding of sensor fusion and navigation algorithms
· Preferred Experience:
o Hands-on experience with AUVs, ROVs, or other field robotics systems.
o Experience in structural defect detection based on visual and/or 3D point cloud
o Exposure to deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) for perception tasks.
o Knowledge of autonomous mission planning
o Familiarity with Linux, Docker, and version control systems (Git).
o Previous work in infrastructure inspection, marine sensing, or predictive maintenance applications.
· Personal Attributes:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
o Self-motivated and proactive in research execution.
o Excellent communication and teamwork skills across academic and industry partners.
o Willingness to participate in field deployments and trials.
