Hyundai-NTU-A*STAR Corporate Lab is an advanced R&D facility specializing in development of world leading automotive technologies. We are looking for a Research Engineer to support the research in Hyundai-NTU Corp Lab, specifically in the area of hardware design, assembly and control of versatile end effectors for manufacturing lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external research partners to design, develop, and automate end effectors for manufacturing systems

  • Conduct technical investigations into design concepts and manipulation strategies for end effector applications

  • Support prototype development, hardware assembly, and system integration

  • Plan and carry out experimental testing on end effectors using real-world components

  • Analyse test results and prepare technical reports and presentations

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of system performance and reliability

Requirements:

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree in a relevant field

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • CAD design and mechanical system development

    • Hardware assembly and prototyping

    • Microcontroller or PLC programming

    • Robotics and automation systems

  • Basic programming or firmware development experience is advantageous

Other Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills

Experience

  • Open to entry-level candidates

  • Prior experience in robotics, automation, or hands-on hardware/firmware development is an advantage
